My hot take: publishing companies do this to make money, not to defend a legacy artist’s work. Lawsuits like this should never primarily be assumed to be about a contemporary artist stealing another’s work
Olivia Dean's "I've Seen It" is accused of copying Bill Withers' "Just the Two of Us" in a new lawsuit. The publisher behind Withers' catalog calls the similarities β€œobvious and inescapable.” πŸ”—: rollingstone.com/music/music…

Blocked for this, after he was left dissatisfied that Grok hadn’t defended him. Not a scholarly attitude to history

The notion that the Normans didn’t create a parallel society is hilarious. Written English all but gone, no marriages for 100 years, murdrum fines β€˜one rule for you, one for them’, no Anglo Saxon in position of power. Assimilation only after they lost their territories in France

The RNLI are about as nationally beloved as puppies, spring mornings, and that first creamy pint on a Friday evening. Picking a political fight with them is a campaign strategy the far right are welcome to.

What would an honest observer say about who is attempting to suppress argument here (β€œgo away”)? I asked you to support the Roman era claim, this is an opinion blog about current wind speeds. I’m not going to try and guess what your non-mainstream source is, I want to see it

How are you defending one tonne metal weapons travelling at 20mph in urban areas?? It should be 10mph, and if you oppose that then it shows you care nothing for those killed and injured

It’s. A. Joke. It uses a known trope around how trans women are talked about, and employs it in absurdist fashion to makeup, claiming makeup can’t be seen without being disclosed. It also uses a before and after that fails to make the case. Are people so worn out by the internet?

I take comfort in this, because although this is ideologically driven revisionist history, you’re doing so to create distance between your politics and the Nazis and antisemitism, where many of your colleagues around Europe are not doing the same

After getting 12 pieces of junk mail in a row, I mouthed under my breath "fuck off Virgin," & realised I haven't said that since high school

@alannamcardle_ @criticalprvrsn would suspect that, with every kind of First-Tier tribunal hearing, they are public but not transcribed
It's Glasgow. It's 7.30pm. It's about -2. It's raining. Two shops are selling ice creams. And people are buying them
