60-Second Strategy: Appreciation, Apology, Aha!
A quick, low-key way to build community in your classroom on a daily basis.

ALT Las Vegas, August 5, 2024 We are heartbroken and outraged by the tragic shooting at Apalaches High School. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected during this incredibly painful time. This senseless violence is a devastating reminder of the urgent need to address the ongoing crisis of gun violence and mental health in our schools. Our students, teachers, and staff deserve to feel safe—school should be a place where they can focus on learning and growing, not fearing for their lives. It’s heartbreaking that so many are forced to navigate their day with the weight of that fear hanging over them. The Southern Nevada Black Educators Initiative (SNBEI) is dedicated to advocating for policies that protect the safety and well-being of our school communities. We stand with everyone calling for real change, including stronger gun control, improved safety measures, and better mental health support, to put an end to these heartbreaking tragedies.
