Well here it is. The first in a series of musings on organising learned the hard way. Door by door, street by street, battle by battle. Mindset, attitude and the attributes necessary to successful organising. Socialism, strength & stoicism. Link in comments. Let's go.

Private water companies are lining their pockets while providing abysmal service, dumping raw sewage into our rivers and seas, and letting infrastructure rot. Nationalise the lot.

Great thread on rent controls from our Head Organiser, @_NickBallard📢 Rent controls worked in the UK, it’s time we brought them back for good!
The landlord lobby claim rent controls never work, but that isn't true. We could point to rent controlled Vienna, the world's most liveable city, or the 16 other rent controlled European countries with better housing than us. But we don't need to. They worked here in the UK! 🧵

When Thatcher scrapped rent controls in '88, housebuilding collapsed and housing costs went through the roof. Rent control alone wont solve the housing crisis, but it’s a part of the only system that works. A system where we treat houses as homes not investments.

Because when you leave housing to the market, it becomes a financial tool for the wealthy. If we want to end the housing crisis, rent control has to be a key part of that. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again.

Is it any wonder landlords continue to rent out unfit homes when there is essentially no punishment from the authorities?
300,000 complaints from tenants living in unfit homes in 3 years. Just 64 prosecutions. 50% of local authorities responsible for housing did not fine a single landlord, and over 1/3 did not issue any formal action against people letting out homes unlawfully. Disgraceful.

Why are so many Tories (inc. ex-Govt ministers) who spent years selling our country down the river, dismantling our services & trying to break our communities being welcomed into Reform with open arms? Is this 'a break from establishment politics,' or the same old (New) Tories?
🚨 BREAKING: Robert Jenrick has officially joined Reform UK, becoming their 6th MP

It’s funny that landlords are doing sob stories in the media about a 2% increase in property income tax, but they never have any concern about hitting their tenants with huge rent rises
Do landlords ever stop crying? The entire housing system in this country is designed to line the pockets of these people, they’ve had it all their way for decades. Yet they never seem to stop moaning.

Just overwhelmingly pathetic. You fill our rivers and seas with sewage, hike up bills, and let infrastructure deteriorate, all while paying out millions to shareholders. Then hire a bodyguard because people actually voice their opposition to this. Embarrassing.
Today is also the day that Lawrence Gosden CEO of Southern Water revealed that he has hired a bodyguard after been surrounded by 6 middle-aged ladies all holding hands will conducting a citizen's arrest. No I'm not kidding.

🚫🪪 Good riddance to the Government's mandatory digital ID scheme! Not only was this an attack on our civil liberties, putting more power in the hands of this (and future) Governments at the same time as increasing state surveillance and a clampdown on the right to protest, it would also see even more money, power and our most personal data in the hands of the private tech corporations.

Reform claim to be a break from the establishment, but they’re largely funded by ex-Tory donors. Most sitting Reform councillors/MPs have jumped ship from the Tories. They’re rats leaving a sinking ship. These are the same people who have sold our country down the river.
🚨 NEW: All of Reform's 12 councils will raise council tax this year despite pledging not to in campaigns Some of the planned rises include: Worcestershire - 10% Derbyshire - 4.99% West Northamptonshire - 4.99% Kent - 3.99% Staffordshire - 3.99% [@thetimes]

The same publications that fight against workers striking for better pay are always the ones writing sob stories about wealthy people “struggling” financially🤔
🗣️ 'We felt we had done everything right in life' Max Griffiths and wife Nicole – both work in the tech sector on salaries of £125,000 and around £100,000 respectively – have fallen victim to the cliff-edge tax that's forcing middle-class families to take desperate measures. Homelessness isn’t an act of god, it’s the result of policy choices made by those in power. This makes that even clearer.
“London councils are deactivating their protocols to house rough sleepers on the day where a -9°C arctic blast hit the UK.” This is shameful, and will be a matter of life or death for many. metro.co.uk/2026/01/06/londo… via @MetroUK

It’s time to take back what is ours. We power this country and we keep it running, yet it’s those who sit on hoards of wealth who profit. Let’s change that!
🎯 Spot on. Let’s make this the year we stop letting the super rich rule our country.
