These are insane rainrate which one will see in life. Kathivakkam has got 260 mm. Of which, 148 mm fell in an hour. I have never seen such rain rates in Chennai. Areas close to sea are pounded.
The clouds have covered south Chennai too, entire Chennai should be getting rains now.

This is the heaviest rainfall Chennai has witnessed since Cyclone Michaung in December 2023, which brought around 400–450 mm of rain in a day.
After nearly 25 dry days, these rains arriving with the onset of the Northeast Monsoon make this spell even more special.
Today event will have a special entry in my diary. Certain rainy days are unforgettable for pluviophiles, we remember them for a lifetime and today is certainly one of them.
