Maybe people aren’t having fewer kids because they suddenly stopped wanting families. Maybe we made parenting completely insane. Perfect pregnancy. Perfect diet. Perfect school. Perfect activities. Perfect house. Perfect career. Never yell. Never use screens. Never make a mistake. Then we wonder why young adults look at parenthood and say, “No thanks.” Kids don’t need perfect parents. They need present ones. Maybe fixing the birth-rate crisis starts with making normal parenting normal again.

Rewatched the HBO miniseries John Adams (2008). Fabulous miniseries. Hard to believe Hollywood would produce something like this. Sure would today. It’d be all gay stuff and America hating and George Washington would be told off by girlbosses.

If you live long enough or accomplish something that leads some people to regard you as a 'great man' or 'great woman'--you will laugh and laugh at the ludicrousness of it. Or I should say I hope you will laugh at it. Otherwise it will eat you alive.
