The American responses to this tweet are a pretty amazing case of when you go to a country and ask why they do this silly thing instead of the simple soltion you have back home? And the locals get angry with you for suggesting there are other ways of doing things then theirs. In fact it's so silly I have made a Google maps solution map taken from the rough area where this happened. Scenario 1: Dropped off at red, lives at blue, no need to stop 5 lanes of traffic. Scenario 2: Lives at green, at which case Bus can do this magic thing called turning around and dropping boy at green which keeps him safe without ruining traffic (you are paying the guy) Scenario 3: drop off at red but multiple kids living at blue and green, you paint the road with mysterious markings know as crosswalk with a button that stops traffic, but what if you can't trust THEM to not run red lights? (why are you letting such people drive) Scenario 4: Purple solution, stairs, you just build some stairs that walk over the road, it also means no traffic is stopped for cross walkers. If non of these do it for you maybe you should just pick your kids up from school? You have a car orientated society might as well use it at this point?? Regardless, the current solution is silly, so silly a few states have had to relax the law given how silly the US solution is.
