WHAT TO EAT BEFORE & AFTER THE GYM. What you eat around your workout can help support your energy, performance, and recovery. BEFORE TRAINING — Fuel Your Session Choose meals that provide carbohydrates for energy and some protein to support your workout: 🍌 Banana + Yogurt 🥣 Oats + Milk + Fruit 🍞 Toast + Eggs 🍚 Rice + Chicken or Tofu AFTER TRAINING — Support Recovery Focus on balanced meals containing protein, carbohydrates, and nutritious whole foods: 🍳 Eggs + Toast + Fruit 🥣 Greek Yogurt + Fruit + Oats 🍗 Rice + Vegetables + Chicken or Tofu 🐟 Potatoes + Fish + Vegetables ✨ The simple rule: Before → Fuel your session. After → Support your recovery. Remember, you don't need a complicated fitness meal plan. Choose foods you enjoy, eat balanced meals, stay hydrated, train consistently, and prioritize quality sleep. 💪 Fitness is built through consistent habits, one meal and one workout at a time.

That burning feeling in your stomach can be easy to brush off. But when it keeps showing up with bloating, nausea, pain or discomfort after eating, it deserves more attention. Here are a few signs people often notice with gastritis. THREAD

Not much time after training? This is a quick way to loosen up the hips and hamstrings. It only takes a short moment, so it is easy to fit in before you leave. Simple move, but it can feel really good after a hard session.

Same nutrient, very different amount of food. That’s why portion size and food source matter just as much as the number on the label. Keep your food choices varied and practical.

A lot of the parts we throw away are actually edible. 🌿 Garlic scapes, radish leaves, sweet potato leaves and pea shoots can all add something useful to a meal. Might be worth checking what’s edible before the scraps hit the bin.

Healthy eating in Nigeria doesn’t need imported ingredients or some fancy meal plan. Plantain, beans, fish, eggs, vegetables and moi-moi already give you plenty to work with. It mostly comes down to how you combine them, cook them and serve the portions. - Thread -

CAR-T therapy was invented in the United States. Increasingly, the patients who can actually afford it are flying to China to get it. CAR-T therapy re-engineers a patient's own immune cells to hunt and destroy cancer, and it's already approved for blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. In the U.S., the full treatment costs between $550,000 and $850,000. In China, the same therapy runs $150,000 to $230,000 — often with recovery support included. Cost isn't the only gap. Preparing a patient's bioengineered cells takes several weeks in the U.S., partly due to manufacturing bottlenecks; labs near Shanghai can produce the same cells in days. Dr. Sairah Ahmed, who directs the CAR-T program at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, has advised some of her own overseas patients to seek treatment in China instead, describing it plainly: "China has basically done to CAR-T cell therapy the same thing that it's done to other industries — they've industrialized it." Since 2023, Shanghai SinoUnited Hospital alone has treated roughly three dozen international patients from a dozen countries — including some referred from major American cancer centers like MD Anderson, Mayo Clinic, and Johns Hopkins. China has also pulled ahead on innovation, not just cost: in June, its regulators approved the world's first CAR-T therapy for a solid tumor, treating certain advanced stomach cancers, a milestone the U.S. hasn't yet reached. Bioethicists note real tradeoffs for patients traveling abroad: fewer long-term safety records, no local doctor managing complications after they return home, and the need to clearly distinguish an approved treatment from an unproven trial. But for patients with aggressive, fast-moving cancers and price tags that would otherwise be unreachable, that tradeoff increasingly looks worth it.

Your body rarely hands you a neat label. A symptom can be harmless, important, or something in between depending on how it starts and what comes with it. The real skill is noticing when “normal” suddenly stops feeling normal. THREAD

You don’t need to fear carbohydrates. But there’s a big difference between: potatoes, oats, beans and fruit and living on biscuits, sweets and sugary drinks. “Carbs” is a huge category. Treating them all the same makes nutrition harder than it needs to be.

Your liver can take a lot before it starts making noise. That’s why a few odd changes shouldn’t be ignored, but they shouldn’t send you into panic either. Some signs are worth knowing. The important part is knowing what they actually mean. 🧵

Kidney damage usually isn’t about one terrible habit. It’s often years of small things piling up: blood pressure, blood sugar, dehydration, certain medicines and poor diet choices. These are the everyday habits worth paying attention to. 🧵

Have you ever wondered why traditional bread leaves you feeling sluggish and bloated, while a quality loaf of sourdough feels completely different? It comes down to ancient science and microbiology. Unlike standard commercial loaves that cause rapid glucose spikes, traditional sourdough goes through a slow fermentation process driven by wild yeast and lactic acid bacteria. This natural transformation breaks down starches, neutralizes mineral-blocking anti-nutrients, and produces prebiotic fibers that your gut microbiome thrives on. The result? Better blood sugar balance, superior nutrient uptake, and a happier digestive system.

Electrolytes get talked about like a workout supplement, but they’re really part of basic fluid and muscle function. You lose more than water when you sweat, especially on long or hot sessions. Here’s when they matter, what foods provide them, and when plain water is enough. 🧵

Small adjustments can completely change where an exercise hits. Control the movement, keep the tension where you want it, and let good form do the work. 💪

Mint isn’t only for tea. Fresh leaves can add a lot of flavour to everyday meals, and they bring some useful plant compounds along with them too. Sometimes the simplest ingredients get overlooked. 🌿
