If the socialists had their way, Elon would have had his paypal profits taken and redistributed for the greater good. The world would never have seen Tesla, nor SpaceX. And the world wouldn't know it, because they were uncreated, and thus unseen. Imagine the companies that don't exist, because Washington destroyed them before they were born.

The fastest way to lower average housing prices in American cities is enforcing the law/reducing criminal activity. Huge chunks of high-density housing are trapped in Bad Neighborhoods, no-go zones depressed well below nearby prices. Nobody with options even considers them.

THE NIGHT SKY ON MARS LOOKS INSANE Imagine standing on Martian soil under a sky so dense with stars it feels unreal. That’s the view - no atmosphere to blur it, no city lights to drown it out. How long until we’re the ones under that sky?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

Stablecoins will happen in the U.S. because BlackRock and the banks want them to happen. This could not be more obvious. The new BlackRock BUIDL fund on Ethereum is a high bandwidth pipeline between U.S. Treasuries and USDC. Pipelines will bring trillions onchain. The USDC issuer Circle is (likely) will IPO soon. BlackRock has ownership in Circle. The banks will backdoor themselves into stablecoins - by acquiring/partnering/controlling crypto native companies - and they'll lobby for stablecoin legislation and make it happen along the way. The US does not have the political will to build a central bank digital currency. They're create one defacto through private bank issued stablecoins on public crypto networks like Ethereum. As long as we preserve open, permissionless, decentralized protocols like Ethereum at the bottom of the stack - then crypto wins. The liquidity and legitimacy from this will make crypto unstoppable.

The car was invented in 1886 but horses weren’t replaced as a means for transportation until 1920’s for early adopter regions and 1950’s everywhere. Transformative technology doesn’t appear everywhere immediately. The future is not evenly distributed and not easily distributed.

Fundraising should always be plan B, and growing fast versus operating cheaply is not at odds. Hiring too aggressively is the mistake many make because it's a visible metric of a successful company. There are startups that got the causality wrong (and have now failed). Hyper-hiring doesn't make you successful; being a successful company allows you to hire a lot of people. But often, the success path of the company is forged by the very early team, and a lot of the hiring comes much later as the company scales and widens its reach. My personal learning with teams was that I've never seen a large team move fast or create quality. Anything fast, and often quality outputs, were created by a small team with a clear direction. In a startup, that's exactly what you want. For most startups, before some level of PMF, don't grow the team over 10 people. paulgraham.com/aord.html

A startup can be best in the world in at most one thing. Choose your focus carefully, and avoid all temptation to broaden scope unless it means getting better at what you already do.

Move faster. Slowness anywhere justifies slowness everywhere. 2021 instead of 2022. This week instead of next week. Today instead of tomorrow. Moving fast compounds so much more than people realize.

I gave GPT-4 a budget of $100 and told it to make as much money as possible. I'm acting as its human liaison, buying anything it says to. Do you think it'll be able to make smart investments and build an online business? Follow along 👀
