Paul joined the G&T team for a social evening in Bristol, enjoying a boat cruise along the waterfront and the opportunity to connect with colleagues outside the usual working environment.
The evening began with a bite to eat before the team gathered at Princes Street Bridge, by Arnolfini, to board the boat. The cruise provided a relaxed setting to catch up, share conversations and strengthen relationships across the team, before continuing the evening with a pub stop at The Pump House.
A big thank you to Laura Potter for organising the event and to James Seymour for helping bring everyone together for a fantastic evening.
Events like these are a great way to build stronger working relationships, encourage collaboration and strengthen connections across the industry.

🏗️Project Update - One Friary🏗️
One Friary at Temple Quay has achieved a BREEAM Outstanding rating at Post-Construction stage, a level achieved by fewer than 1% of certified UK buildings.
And it’s the Post-Construction rating that makes this particularly significant.
A design-stage rating demonstrates intent. Post-Construction certification demonstrates what was actually delivered, from the services installed to their commissioning and performance. Maintaining that standard through three years and a full construction programme is no small achievement.
Box Twenty provided mechanical, electrical and public health consultancy to Bankfoot APAM, developing the services design from concept through to tender and supporting the client throughout construction.
Congratulations to everyone involved: Bankfoot APAM, Beard, TP Bennett, Heyne Tillett Steel, Core Five and Catella APAM.
A great result for the project team, and a strong example of what can be achieved when sustainability is embedded from design through delivery.

Yesterday, Paul Weston attended the fbe Great Western Golf Day, held at The Bristol Golf Club in collaboration with Women in Property, with funds raised for Empire Fighting Chance.
Our thanks to James Devey for the invitation, and to Tim Hodson and Oscar Baker, who made up the four-ball.
Big shout out to Sulli Gardner, who organised the day and ran it exceptionally well. Bringing 108 golfers across two courses through registration, scoring and prize giving is no small undertaking, and the smooth running of the event was testament to the organisation behind it.
Empire Fighting Chance uses boxing and one-to-one coaching to support young people across Bristol who have been poorly served by conventional provision. Their work makes a real difference, and we were pleased to support an event raising funds for the charity.
Our thanks to everyone involved in making it such a successful day!

🎉 Happy 8th workiversary, Luke Chang! 🎉
Eight years ago, Luke walked through our doors and it's hard to imagine Box Twenty without him now. As our BIM Manager, he's the person the whole team leans on, quietly making sure everything models up, coordinates and comes together beautifully.
But it's more than the Revit wizardry and the eye for standards. It's the patience, the always-happy-to-help attitude, and the calm he brings on even the busiest days. Thank you for eight wonderful years, Luke, we're so lucky to have you. Here's to many more!

Ben has joined Box Twenty as a Summer Mechanical Engineering Intern while studying for an MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol. As part of his degree, he completed a study abroad year at the University of Illinois, broadening his academic experience and developing his ability to work in an international environment.
He has a strong interest in building services engineering and sustainable building design, with a focus on HVAC systems, low-carbon technologies, and energy-efficient buildings. His project experience includes the design of a deployable solar panel system, the design and construction of a small gantry crane, and the development of custom, additively manufactured football shin guards using photogrammetry and lattice optimisation techniques.
Ben has experience using MATLAB, Simulink, Autodesk Fusion 360, and nTop. He enjoys applying engineering principles to practical challenges and is looking forward to developing his technical expertise at Box Twenty while contributing to live projects.
Outside of engineering, Ben is a keen tennis player/coach and enjoys travelling, exploring different cultures through cuisine and cooking.

With the Red Extreme Heat warning and temperatures touching 38°C, the buildings struggling most this week are the ones never designed to cope with it.
Overheating isn't solved by bolting on air conditioning, that just shifts the problem onto the grid and people's bills. The first moves are passive: shading and solar control, reducing internal gains, cross-ventilation and night purging to flush out heat while it's cooler. England's Part O overheating regulation, and CIBSE TM52/TM59, exist precisely because tropical nights, where indoor temperatures never fall below 20°C, make sleep and recovery genuinely hard, especially for older and more vulnerable residents.
Designing for a warming climate is now core building-services work, not an optional extra. The cheapest cooling is the heat you stop getting in.
How is your building holding up this week, comfortable, or counting down to sunset?
If overheating is a worry on a current project, drop a comment or send us a message; we're always happy to talk through where the passive “quick wins” are.

Today we celebrate a significant milestone for our Managing Director, Paul Weston, who marks 10 years with Box Twenty this week.

Beyond the projects and achievements, Paul has fostered a culture built on collaboration, innovation and professional development, helping create an environment where both our people and our clients can thrive.
On behalf of everyone at Box Twenty, thank you for your dedication, vision and leadership over the last 10 years. We look forward to continuing the journey together and seeing what the next chapter brings.
