What confuses me is, when we regular people go to functional cities/countries we are amazed. What about our politicians and senior technocrats who go to even many more countries than we do. Dont they at least wish the same for themselves.

Well done to @HeathensRFC . Onwards and upwards 👏
🇺🇬 This is a big deal. @HeathensRFC has signed a partnership with @Ntare_School (one of Uganda’s most prestigious boys’ schools, based in Mbarara). The agreement covers: • Capacity building • Coaching visits (Heathens coaches going to Ntare) • Support for the school’s rugby programme (exact details still limited) For Heathens: • This strengthens their grassroots and school rugby pipeline • Gives them a strong presence in Western Uganda (Ntare is a rugby powerhouse in school competitions). • Continues the trend of Heathens forming strategic partnerships (they already have one with @Abashwekyi FC, the @ntare_league side). For Ntare School: • Direct access to coaching expertise from Uganda’s most successful club (record Premiership winners). • Better structured rugby development for their students. • Stronger pathway for talented boys into top-level club rugby. This is the kind of club–school partnership that can produce long-term results for Ugandan rugby, especially if it’s properly implemented with regular coaching visits and clear development programmes.

Signed. Heathens RFC and @Ntare_School are now partners. Key to the agreement are capacity building, coaching visits, support and a clear path for young rugby talent. Education comes first. Always. Thank you to Ntare School for opening the gate. This is the first signature, not the last. #HeathensTuko || #NtareSchool ||#UgandaRugby

Look at the chaos in France. That is what happens when just 3 countries (Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger) say no to exploitation. The rest of Africa needs to wake up and follow suit. Stop using the CFA franc. Stop giving them quotas. Stop letting Europe and the US drain our resources. If Africa unites and cuts them off, it is over for the West. They cannot survive without our resources. The dominoes are falling.

Kenyan-founded space technology startup Satlyt has raised $8 million (KSh1.04 billion) in seed funding led by non sibi ventures, with participation from TLCOM, Antler, Launch Africa Ventures and others. Founded in 2024 by Rama Afullo, a former SpaceX and Google engineer, the company builds software that lets satellites process data and run AI applications onboard, sending back results instead of raw data, and aims to link spacecraft from different operators into virtual AI data centres in space. Satlyt has disclosed NASA support worth $4 million and signed memoranda of understanding with the Kenya Space Agency and Angola’s GGPEN, though these are not confirmed commercial contracts or completed satellite deployments.

In Kyotera District, southern Uganda, there's a church held up by columns of light. Our Lady of Victoria Monastery was built for a growing community of Trappist monks, and almost all of it is fired clay brick. The bricks were fired with coffee husks, an agricultural waste, so even the fuel came from the farms around it. Four buildings, about 2,000 square metres, in one material. The brick is the structure and the finish. There is no plaster and no ornament. The perforated brick screens carry the walkway roofs and ventilate the rooms at the same time. Plinths sit on stacked clay tile strips so water doesn't sit against the walls on a site that floods. The church's brick arches and buttresses carry the load, with glass bottles set into the arches to let sunlight in. Every technique here is masonry: arches, a vault, buttresses, screens. A mason who learns one on this site can use it on the next one. This is a template, and it can be built in any region with clay and a kiln. 📍 Kijonjo, Kyotera District, Uganda 🇺🇬

In 1974, both governments in Cairo and Khartoum sat in a room and signed a paper. “The Sudd is wasting water. Let us dig a 360km canal from Jonglei to the Sobat. We will split the extra water 50/50. The people of Twi East, Duk and Bor. The people whose cows drink from the toic. Whose fish breed in the Sudd. Whose history is written on water were never considered. So, in 1974, mostly students of defunct Bor District in Juba protested over the project of canal were many of them were shot and killed by Khartoum government. In 1978, the French company CCI shipped this behemoth from Pakistan. Guided by a laser beam, it dug 130 feet wide, 20 feet deep. It consumed 10,400 gallons of fuel a day. However, history had already prepared a man, when a man decides to fight, he fights for something bigger than his village.. Dr. John Garang de Mabior was in Iowa State University at that time doing his PhD with thesis “Identifying, Analyzing and Evaluating Development options for The Jonglei area”. The very canal that wanted to kill his people. the government's plan for the locals was nothing but "misery management." A few boreholes and schools to make people keep quiet while they steal Nile river to Egypt. Dr. Garang decided to used Sudd as a yardstick. In Nairobi, at UNEP headquarters, there was a group called the ELC. One Professor Richard Odingo of Nairobi University who in 1977 stood at a UN Conference and shouted, "Here is a canal being built that will make Africa's next desert!" On October 1982, at the Royal Geographical Society in London, they held a meeting. Topic: "The impact of the Jonglei Canal." The white man who once wanted the canal now said, "Stop it” When SPLA was formed on 16th May 1983 after the Bor Mutiny, the first military order was not to attack Juba. It was, Go and stop the Bucket Wheel. In 1984, they chased the workers. CCI ran away. “makarawin” was left there, alone, rusting in the bush of Nyaken, birds nesting in its buckets. 260km of unfinished canal, disappearing under grass. The Bucket Wheel did not cause the war alone. But it gave the war a story that the world could understand. It turned SPLA from "rebels" to "saviors of the world's largest wetland." May the soul of a man who could have lived the life many of us only dream of, but chose instead a fight that forced him to leave his family behind. Credit:Desmond D. Mabior.

We, as a citizenry will start counting from today. Every day until you reinstate what you dilapidated through poor planning and impunity! Affected people and every citizen that notices your mess will share your pictures as they deem appropriate. We shall tag you @nwscug @NWSCMD while showing the age of the mess you have created! We'll keep counting. #NWSCRoadCount #NWSCLeavesItWorse #Day1
Dear Ambrose, The works are part of the Kampala Water Network Extension Project, the pipeline extending bulk supply from Katosi through Namugongo, Bulindo, Nsasa and Mulawa toward Kira–Kasangati, meant to stabilise supply in Kira, Buwaate, Bulindo, Mulawa and Kasangati from December 2026. On the planning point: we have been coordinating with the respective municipalities and the road agencies to co-ordinate the different infrastructure projects but some gaps remain. On several of these roads the pipe is laid in the carriageway as a last resort. The roads were upgraded and paved without a reserved utility corridor, and buildings now sit on the alignment, so a wayleave off the road would mean breaking walls and homes. Where a corridor exists, that is where the pipe goes. Where it does not, the carriageway is the only continuous route left. Two commitments: 1. Reinstatement is in the contractor’s scope and is paid under the project, not by a second call on the road budget. The contractor shall ensure that all work spaces are reinstated 2. The project Manager and the contractor will walk the pipeline route to ensure that all work is spaces are reinstated to their original for.
