Go to one showcase when you’re in 8th grade. Jump into the deep end, learn how they work and be uncomfortable.
Then don’t go to a showcase in high school until you have something to showcase.

Warm up to throw. Don’t throw to warm up. And don’t stretch your shoulder.
Shoulders and arms should be burning and you should be sweating before you pick up a baseball to throw.

Here’s a cool vizzy from @aosnacz looking at strength & power and their relationship with our motion capture throwing velocity. Athletes who throw 88+ are clustered on the right hand side of the chart, particularly in the upper right quadrant (high strength, high power).

The "tough/hardass" coaching model occasionally works on the HS/college level because athletes have no control.
It largely fails on the pro level because athletes have more autonomy & understand their value
Pro's want to be treated as people, not subordinates.

Unpopular Ideas Discussed in Driveline HP:
Aside from the throwing shoulder (arm going into layback), most joints involved in the throw don’t reach extreme ranges. Most guys probably have the ROM that they need. ‘Mobility work’ probably isn’t going to be an unlock for most guys.

Top 4 Reasons Arms get sore:
1) UNDER Conditioned (ie not throwing enough during time off)
2) Lack of CONSISTENT Throwing
3) High Intent day w/out arm being FULLY stretched out
4) Not enough Arm Care
If your Arm is sore, pls BACK OFF & RE-CONDITION it 1st until it feels better!
