About to drop something I think is pretty cool over at the @GrindingMocks Substack in a few. It may or may not be #BigDataBowl related...

We’ve lost the mathematician who taught constrained machines which truths must outrank the rest. Margaret Hamilton shaped the Apollo Guidance Computer as a priority algebra: higher tasks could silence lower ones, so a 1202 overload never drowned the landing equations. Recovery lived inside the executive, not as a later patch. From those flight rules she extracted a theory of control in which interface errors are refused by the grammar itself i.e Development Before the Fact. She named the work software engineering so programs would carry the rigor already granted to analysis. The moon was the proof; the structure of preventable failure remains the map.
We’ve lost an icon. Margaret Hamilton, a computer science pioneer best known for her work at MIT leading development of the flight software for the Apollo missions to the moon, has died at 90. Read about her legacy via MIT News: news.mit.edu/2026/margaret-h…

Safer intersections start with better visibility🚸 Cities collect vast amounts of traffic data, yet understanding how pedestrians and vehicles interact at crosswalks remains a challenge. With Ultralytics YOLO26, transportation teams can analyze crossing activity in real time, helping identify risky interactions, evaluate traffic patterns, and support data-driven safety improvements. Lilian Weng shared today that she is leaving Thinking Machines Lab to focus on her health. I went back to this 2019 talk at OpenAI. In front of 100+ women in tech, she made a difficult frontier problem, teaching a robotic hand dexterous manipulation through reinforcement learning and domain randomization, feel understandable and worth exploring. That has always been part of Lilian’s impact. She didn’t just help build important systems. Through talks like this and Lil’Log, she opened up frontier research to an entire generation of researchers and builders. Wishing her the time and space to recover. As Lilian wrote today: “The future worth building is human.”
It is a hard and sad decision. I shared this message with folks at Thinky. Thank you all for the time together♥️ Just as the last sentence in my message: The future worth building is human.
