Below is a curated list of 2026 MLB debuts who retain rookie status for 2027 because they did not exceed 45 days of active service
This means they will be eligible for the 2027 Prospect Handbook and Prospect Promotion Incentive eligibility, if that is included in the next CBA

🦔Meta classified its AI data centers as "experimental pilot facilities" on its tax return. That let the Nvidia chips inside them qualify for the federal research tax credit. Meta's research credit savings went from $700 million in 2023 to $3.9 billion in 2025 and its federal tax bill dropped nearly 71%. Meta's $3.9 billion is over 10% of the entire federal research credit, claimed by one company. The facilities include a 5-gigawatt campus in Louisiana that cost above $50 billion. Meta's own reserve for potential IRS challenges grew 45% to $18.74 billion.
My Take
Meta is calling a $50 billion data center campus an experiment. The research credit was designed in the 1980s for companies that tried things that might not work. Meta used it to write off Nvidia GPUs by the tens of thousands in facilities that power Instagram, WhatsApp, and a commercial AI product with 2.8 million downloads. Tax experts called the classification "kind of wild" and they're right.
$3.9 billion in tax savings is a lot of money. That's money the Treasury didn't collect from a company worth $1.5 trillion. Meta's own filings show they know this might not hold up because they increased their IRS dispute reserve by 45% to $18.74 billion. If the IRS challenges it and wins, Meta owes billions in back taxes. If the IRS doesn't challenge it, every other hyperscaler files the same claim next year. Either way this reshapes how AI infrastructure gets taxed. Communities already fight data centers over noise, water, and property values. Now the tax code hands them a $3.9 billion subsidy on top of it.

The Dallas Morning News relying on advocates for and against a $700m Stars arena funding ballot measure to make the case for why this is a good deal or not is an abdication of what journalism is supposed to do: find out facts and inform readers about them. fieldofschemes.com/2026/09/2…

In reality, the public will cover closer to 3/4 of a Royals stadium cost than 1/2. It'd be nice if more journalists would care about reporting actual facts rather than what's in the press release, but that's been a problem for a long while now. fieldofschemes.com/2026/09/1…

Squandering the Majority
House Speaker Mike Weaselon just sent everyone home until November, effectively squandering what might be last of their majority and ability to actually get anything done.
Golden Age!
I'm old enough to remember a few days ago when @RepThomasMassie predicted this exactly and Mike Soggson called him stupid for it.
So it goes, Massie took the podium today and clowned them all. There's too many great points he made in the hour long speech so I clipped a few of my favorites.
He talks bringing our troops home, legislation he's pushed for years, importing mystery meat, paid social media slopsters, empty suits reading AI speeches and more.

Major League Baseball has long known about teams making handshake deals with Dominican players as young as 11 — and the predatory industry that has grown around this system.
But it’s never publicly warned or penalized a team for making an early deal.

KC approved spending $185m to expand the Current's 2-year-old stadium, which Fox4KC reported as "funded by revenue generated by the stadium and surrounding development." That's wrong: It'll be funded by sales taxes, most probably not new to K.C. at all. fieldofschemes.com/2026/09/1…

In an interview with Israeli TV network Channel 14 this week, Netanyahu told Israeli voters that he had spent “close to 1,000 hours on American television” and used his “intimate knowledge” of U.S. leaders to bring the United States into the war against Iran.
Drop Site’s @JulianAndreone asked lawmakers on Capitol Hill what they make of Netanyahu’s comments.

It appears the central players in getting $2B in subsidies for the Rays owner outsourced their "this one will be different" reasoning to ChatGPT. Stadium documents may be supplied only days before votes now, but at least we have robots to read them for us. fieldofschemes.com/2026/08/3…

🚨NEW: WHITNEY WEBB warns that Palantir is building a Flock-like surveillance network in space
"the Merlin constellation, Satellogic, and Palantir is literally what you're worried about with Flock, in space"
"You can't spray expanding foam on those cameras They are in space"
"people need to realize that the surveillance state has expanded so much that this is getting extremely dire"
"And this is how they achieve the Total Information Awareness program, as like, prophesized by their freaky as hell logo"
"of course, under the Trump administration in its current form they've drastically expanded what is a domestic terrorist, okay? So predictive analytics is bad because what if it becomes terrorism to criticize a data center or any of the aspects of these of this big infrastructure rollout they're building?"

Flock takes their privacy very seriously.
But the ethical gray area in surveillance technology works both ways.
Under no circumstances should elected officials or public servants enjoy an expectation of privacy when spending tax dollars to attend a surveillance lobbying event.
