"We are not trying to repeat an outcome. We are trying to repeat a process." You don’t build dynasties by chasing results. You build them by mastering the habits that produce them. The scoreboard only reveals what the process already decided.

I’ve followed the work of @DrMattGutierrez since his time as superintendent in Seguin ISD, and today’s session with his leadership team from @DelValleISD was a powerful reminder of what instructional leadership truly means. When he stated, “There are no students at central office,” it resonated deeply. Our work does not live in offices, meetings, or reports—it lives in classrooms, hallways, and campuses where our students and teachers are every day. Effective leaders stay connected to schools, remain visible in learning spaces, and ground decisions in what is best for students. That mindset keeps the focus where it belongs: on teaching, learning, and supporting those closest to the work. #InspiringLeaders #TASA2026

At Del Valle ISD, early transformation didn’t happen by chance—it was driven by intentional cabinet building, a shared vision, and coordinated action across the system. Excited to share our journey and lessons learned at Texas Association of School Administrators Midwinter.

Last week before winter break. This isn’t about doing more—it’s about finishing with care. To everyone in schools: your presence matters. Finish steady. Rest well. 💜

What an incredible morning at the DVCC Turkey Trot! I loved seeing our community come together, cheering on our students, handing out medals, and even watching five of our amazing principals hit the course! I also earned the most donation votes in the Pie Face Challenge against our Board VP Susanna Ledesma-Woody, which meant I got pied in the face for a great cause! Huge thanks to everyone who ran, donated, and showed up to support this event. This is what Del Valle pride and community spirit are all about! #DelValleProud

During my campus visits today, it was wonderful to see our curriculum being implemented consistently across both schools - Newton Collins ES/Hillcrest ES. Teachers are really embracing the work and bringing learning to life for their students! At Hillcrest, the leadership team is being very strategic about maintaining their A rating. I loved seeing Principal Beshea's system for recognizing teachers during instructional walks — giving out stars and small rewards when he sees our instructional priorities in action. I was even able to award some stars for the positives that I observed in classrooms. Such a creative way to motivate and celebrate great teaching and learning! We have come a long way in a year, and I'm very proud of the effort and collaboration happening across our district every day! #DelValleProud #ForwardTogetherDV

Just because something is digital does NOT mean it's any good. We can be 100% digital and 100% low-level learning, a narrative not often shared in the #edtech community. What is it that really works? #LT8Keys #AuthenticEDU

The LAST DAY of #PrincipalsUNITED!! Leaders…when you head back to your office with all the new knowledge…think about what’s GOING WELL before you implement the NEW STUFF. It helps validate the hard work you’ve already done. @NAESP @NASSP #LeadFromWhereYouAre
