The biggest news from China鈥檚 car industry today. 3 brake pedals during emergency brake tests on 3 brand-new, luxury class Maextro V800s. (ENGLISH SUBTITLES)
Maextro is Huawei鈥檚 luxury brand with JAC, and the V800 sells for 0.77 to 1 million RMB.
Massive credit to Dongchedi, the company that tested the cars. They are, I believe, China鈥檚 most renowned and respected third-party testing platform, and this video shows why.
3 new cars, pedal force sensors on the third attempt, cameras everywhere, a closed track, a drone and a safety crew. This is among the highest levels of independent car testing I have seen anywhere.
The force when the third pedal broke was 1612 N. I am not sure on this one, but from the limited posts I read, it seems China鈥檚 industry standard requires a brake pedal to hold 2000 N for 5 seconds.
This had a huge impact on the company. Today JAC鈥檚 stock fell by 10%.

The case against the 16-year-old Malmesbury teen arrested in connection with the violent online exploitation group known as 764 (or The Com) was back in the Malmesbury Magistrate鈥檚 Court earlier this week.
The court received feedback following a 30-day psychiatric observation at Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital.
According to the medical report, the teenager was found not to have a mental illness or intellectual disability and was deemed fit to stand trial and follow proceedings.
The matter has been postponed to 15 October 2026 for a bail application, but the case has been sealed to protect the suspect, various underage victims and families.
We recently featured his arrest in our investigation titled Grooming Ground. The teen was arrested in August for the alleged possession, accessing, facilitation, and downloading of child sexual abuse material.
