As we remember those who have lost their lives while homeless, it is important to recommit ourselves to the work to end homelessness. I want to thank @UrbanPathwaysNY and @CFHNYC for putting on this event and honoring these lives who are often dismissed.

At last week’s oversight hearing on cuts to public safety programs, Council Member Avilés criticized @nycprobation on their decision to abruptly cancel the Next STEPS program, which invests in NYCHA youth by connecting them with mentorship, employment and education opportunities.

Next STEPS played a vital role for NYCHA youth, but last month @nycprobation cut the program without warning or explanation.  It's crucial that we prioritize connecting our young people to education and job opportunities.
