All paediatric healthcare staff should be upskilled in early recognition and management of conflict, and have access to expert safeguarding support, palliative care and clinical ethical advice.
This recently published prospective pre-post service evaluation of a 10-ward UK children’s hospital found that a bundle of hospital-wide interventions was associated with reduction in conflict and tension.
An interactive e-learning package “Recognising and managing conflict between children’s families and healthcare providers” was launched in 2024 and is available freely for all National Health Service staff in the UK to access via: bit.ly/4citV0I
