back in 2022, Elrond became MultiversX.
the logo changed in a day. the code took months.
elrond-go became mx-chain-go.
erdpy became mxpy.
the elrond-wasm crates became multiversx-sc.
every repo, every package, every doc page.
one thing we never renamed: addresses still start with erd1.
that prefix lives in every wallet, explorer, exchange integration and saved address book. changing it would have broken real money flows to fix a cosmetic detail.
a brand is a name. an address format is a protocol.
anyway, back to the PRs.

Good conversations deserve a second look 🙌
A look back at Women & Leadership: a day of fresh perspectives, shared experiences, and conversations about the realities of leadership. More than reaching a position, this is all about the impact you create, the people you empower, and the decisions you make along the way.
Proud to have Barbara Teles and Joana Mota Rego representing xMoney on the panel “Women at the Top: How to Get There and Stay.”
Because strong leadership isn’t defined by titles, but by the ability to build trust, drive results, and create opportunities for others to grow 💪

a small VM change that Rust contract devs will feel: bulk memory is coming to the MultiversX executor.
until now, the VM's opcode list did not allow memory.copy and memory.fill.
so when a contract copies or clears a buffer, the WASM does it with a loop of loads and stores. more instructions, more gas, bigger code.
the new work in mx-vm-executor-rs does three things:
1. opcode sets are now versioned.
V1 is the old list and stays the default. V2 adds memory.copy and memory.fill.
memory.init and data.drop stay out. only what is needed.
a module using memory.copy is rejected under V1 and accepted under V2, and there is a test for exactly that.
2. the new opcodes get their own gas formula:
base cost + bytes × per-byte cost.
the base cost is charged even for a zero-byte copy, so nobody gets free calls.
3. the experimental executor moves to Wasmer 7.5, with a shared limit of 4,000 locals per function and boundary tests for both executors.
how come it is versioned, and not simply switched on?
every validator has to agree on which modules are valid and what each instruction costs, down to the byte. so a new WASM feature arrives as one explicit config that the whole network moves to together.
what is still open: integrating the new executor into the Go VM (mx-chain-vm-go #990) is in review.
for contract devs: cheaper copies and smaller contracts, once the network and your build target V2.

🛡️ @MultiversX had 3,263 validators on October 17.
That is its highest count of the past month.
Decentralized via 3200+ nodes, and the validator count is right on theme.

a question for builders and users:
which app is still missing on MultiversX?
something you would open every week.
payments, games, tools, anything.
what would you build first?
✅ Layer 1 blockchains (38 coins on Dutch Trade) are foundational networks such as @ethereum , @solana , or @Cardano , while @MultiversX is a sharded L1 that uses Proof-of-Stake, offering high speed and very low fees. $EGLD 💎

A bull market makes everyone feel like an investing genius, but bear markets are where long-term portfolios actually get built.
The people who win the next cycle aren’t chasing hype right now; they’re quietly researching and stacking while nobody else is paying attention.

Despite all the changes over the years from "ELROND NETWORK" to @MultiversX ...
From a rebrand to a complete tokenomics re-work *away* from their previous fixed-supply model (31.4M EGLD)...
Price? It honestly isn't that bad. Yes, I know, $3.50 """down from $500+""" is bad on paper...
but like when elrond-erd-2:native was over $500, nobody and i mean NOBODY was giving warnings like "HEY GUYS! EGLD price is up nearly 20000% since mainnet launch, maybe now is a highly risky and "inflated" time to be buying....
No. People had fomo and bought into $EGLD... and even I had fomo and bought into $MEX.
We all lost, but in the grand scheme of things, if you're always moving the target (OR the starting line) to conform to some narrative you want to push, that is in essence illogical. What I mean is that EGLD going from $1 in 2019 to $500 in 2021 is just as crazy as falling back down to $3. In the bear market.
I have made money during this last period because I effectively moved my "starting point" to a low point in price history, but so many people comment on my posts saying EGLD is dead because they are quite literally still caught in the future.
The bear market is for one thing along: buying bottoms.
A "bottom" is not a moment; it is a timeframe.
So many people bought BTC in 2017 and lost interest after it fell from $20k. I stuck around and bought timing: much more selling interest that buying interest; much more fear in the market than greed.
This is the only real indicator that matters, and if you can buy the market's FEAR (supply), then you're golden. The psychological barrier is what is different for some.
This is always where my name @the_economystic was derived from: the psychological innerworkings of the economy and economies both big and small.
This is crypto. Highly volatile. We are really buying stake in software that stores and transfers value. It is highly risky!
People will call me crazy and talk down on me in the comments, I'm sure. In fact the one's who comment positively are those who've found the same psychological advantage in buying the timeframe of fear so that when demand and buyer interest returns, they aren't caught in the wash of buying dips and overall short-term targets and fluctuations.
So yes, while i acknowledge $3.50 is low for EGLD,
Consider pulling the timeframe further back and consider how many early investors are actually *still* in profit with their erd/egld acquisitions. A lot of "community" bought high and faced financial hardship, but truly, I stand by the fact that I think @MultiversX in the longer scheme of things is doing quite well, and I think the future for MVX, blockchain, DeFi, NFT's and beyond will continue to gain traction and ground in their respective use cases.
It will be a fun time again for all soon, but there will always be winner and losers. Being a winner means putting yourself in check and figuring out how to improve. Brutal honestly. Minimal ego. Manifestation, perhaps. Diligence. Commitment.
I think this week will be a good one, thanks for reading, and drop me a comment if you think im an IDIOT #MEXto1

a rust tip for MultiversX contract devs: stop keeping time in a raw u64.
with blocks going from 6s to 0.6s, the old seconds API can return the same timestamp for two blocks in a row.
so contracts moved to millis, and mixing seconds with millis became the easiest bug to write.
the framework has typed time now:
let now = self.blockchain().get_block_timestamp_millis();
require!(deadline > now, "deadline in the past");
TimestampMillis - TimestampMillis = DurationMillis
TimestampMillis + TimestampMillis: does not compile
seconds + millis: does not compile
the compiler catches the unit bug before an auditor has to.

elrond-erd-2:native You can tell which posters are experiencing their first bear market. I've already been through this with Bitcoin, then I bought ETH when it dropped 90% first cycle. I did the same with ADA and then SOL in their first cycles. Now I'm doing it with EGLD. I'll make another 20x-100x and people will call me lucky. Crypto is in a secular trend. Just buy when you're sad and sell when you're happy. But I'll remember which people were clowns and cry babies.

Public Mainnet Update
Dear Community,
We have decided to postpone Soul’s Public Mainnet launch from October 19.
Our revised target date is January 5, 2027.
We know this is another delay and that many of you were looking forward to finally using Soul. We are sorry to move the date again, especially this close to launch. We owe you a clear explanation of why we’re taking more time and what that time will be used for.
Soul has already undergone two security assessments with Runtime Verification and Arda. Our security partners have recommended building on those assessments with an additional round of adversarial testing using the latest AI models, taking advantage of their improving ability to identify vulnerabilities.
We believe this is an extra precaution worth taking before Public Mainnet. As AI gives both security teams and potential attackers more capable tools, we want to use those advances to strengthen Soul’s security further before opening it to public capital.
The recent incidents involving Symbiosis, Nostra and NEAR Intents are relevant reminders. Across those cases, the reported failures involved vulnerabilities that could be combined, manipulated collateral prices, and interactions between cross-chain infrastructure and smart contracts.
Components can behave as expected individually and still create a vulnerability when they interact.
The objective is simple: try to break Soul.
We want to test unexpected state transitions, failed or delayed cross-chain execution, recovery, liquidations, and whether transaction tracking and accounting remain consistent under stress. We need to understand what happens when several things go wrong at the same time.
If something breaks, we fix it, then we try to break it again.
The additional time will allow us to complete this testing, address and retest any findings, and carry out the remaining security checks before launch.
No amount of testing can make software risk-free, but that does not lessen our responsibility to do this work thoroughly.
We will publish a progress update each month until launch, covering the testing completed, progress on fixes and retesting, and what remains before we open Soul to everyone. These updates will provide visibility into the work while keeping sensitive security details confidential.
We know that explaining the decision does not remove the frustration of another delay. But our responsibility is not simply to launch Soul; it is to ensure we have done the work necessary to make it ready to handle user capital. We are not comfortable opening it before this work is done.
