A great event with @WorkwhileUK yesterday, with a room full of people discussing what Good Work looks like for young people. A huge thank you to the brilliant youth panelists who shared their insights.
It was fantastic to see so many large employers, SMEs, and small businesses reflecting on what they can do to create opportunities for young people to thrive in meaningful work.

A statement from our CEO, Barry Fletcher, on the recent violence across the UK.
"Youth Futures Foundation condemns the racially motivated intimidation and violence continuing to escalate across the country targeted at Muslims, refugees and other communities.
"The experiences of minoritized ethnic communities are at the heart of our work and we are proud to work with so many partners and communities across the country to help enable a more equitable society for the future generation. We stand with all those affected and are sending strength, care and support."

The events of the last week have been nothing short of deplorable. The far-right, racist & Islamophobic violence that we've seen on our streets and online has no place in our society.
We stand in solidarity with the migrant & minoritised communities who have been targeted. 1/3

There's plenty of comment already on what's wrong with the Prime Minister's speech on welfare today, which I won't repeat.
But what if we were just far more serious about improving the quality of work that's available to people, regardless of sector, geography, skill level etc?

I've written for @NewStatesman on our (@WorkwhileUK @JackTShaw) research on public sector apprenticeship levy usage.
Levy underspends are part of the system, but revealing nonetheless - in this case, clearly illustrating the public sector's struggles.

@WorkwhileUK found that over £300 million of the apprenticeship levy raised by the public sector has gone unspent!
• The public sector is losing £1 for every £4 raised.
• The apprenticeship levy could have created 30,000 more apprentices if properly utilised.

ALT Plenary spotlight: Supporting access to good work and progression. Increases in the minimum wage have significantly reduced the prevalence of low pay. Yet, living standards have stagnated since 2008 and many workers get stuck in low paid, often insecure, jobs. It is vital that we improve job quality and support more people to progress in work. This session will explore: DWP’s in-work progression support offer; approaches to supporting access to good jobs and in-work progression; the role of training and development.
