Well after today’s announcement from the Bank of England, there is something very, very, very wrong in the system. So … let me get this straight: * British Gas made a profit of £1.3bn between January & June * BP announced profits of £6.95 billion between April and June alone * Shell has profited by £9.4bn in a year The MEN at the top: * John Pettigrew, boss of National Grid received £6.5m bonus on top of his salary * Chris O’Shea, chief executive of British Gas owner Centrica was paid almost £2m last year in salary and benefits * Centrica's non-executive directors were paid almost £1m * Scottish Power's CEO Keith Anderson is on £1.15m. * E.On boss Michael Lewis is on £1m * EDF's Simone Rossi is also on £1m * And their top execs enjoyed a share of £4.65m * Peter Simpson of Anglian Water earned a £1.3m pay package * Welsh Water bosses awarded themselves bonuses of over £930,000 * Severn Trent bosses awarded themselves bonuses of £5.56m * Thames Water's Sarah Bentley, received a £727,000 bonus on top of her £2m annual salary Meanwhile there are... * People who haven't had breakfast and/or lunch TODAY, because they can't afford it. * People using FoodBanks because food is becoming more of a luxury than a necessity. * Children celebrating a birthday without presents. * Parents worrying about new school uniforms - and some schools enforcing rules which are not cost-effective. * People who can't get to work because they can't afford to put petrol in their cars/pay for public transport anymore. * People who are working so much they're making themselves ill, and they STILL CAN'T AFFORD to pay their bills. * People who have been given fines by these same energy/water companies because they couldn't afford to pay their bills in the first place - increasing their debt. * Customers being told to do STAR JUMPS TO KEEP WARM for crying out loud! * Hose pipe bans when gallons of water leak away everyday. * Elderly people NOT DRINKING because they're worried about running out of water!!! All this and energy prices are set to rise up to 75% in October... THIS IS MADNESS!.. I'm all for supporting profits … I'm not for supporting greed at the cost of lives of others. Something needs to change. Why is customers' money being used to make life more comfortable for those who are making life more intolerable for the rest of us? I actually don't understand how the energy companies are allowed to get away with this and why the government aren't stopping them instead of handing out money.....

Royal Mail had been delivering twice a day 6 days per week. First and Second class wasn’t about a difference for a day. It was about to get your post by breakfast time or by lunch time. Technologies went up. And what do we have now?

@Nigel_Farage @TiceRichard What do you have to say about this? Come on. You’re very vocal about how you will reform the benefits system but seem to be happy to allow your “Party” HQ to post this.

So people earn more than 100k because they work harder? Than who? There are people in this country who literally work themselves into an early grave for a pittance, or kill themselves working two or more jobs, as more than a million people do. Enough with this Tory myth.
“We don’t want you to be punished for working harder” Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch defends her new proposal to scrap the "cliff edge" that means parents in England lose out on childcare support when they earn more than £100,000 a year #BBCLauraK bbc.co.uk/news/live/c8n5d3k4…

Why has some woman just claimed that some PIP claimants get £70k (purely of PIP money) and has not been corrected?? These kind of lies being allowed to stand, incite bad feeling and hatred towards our communities of carers and disabled people @bbc5live @NickyAACampbell

I'm 64. I'm (obviously) not retired yet. When I was at school, I was told I would be able to retire at 60. Then there was a court case that said that women and men should not be discriminated against, and should have the same retirement age. The French (bless them) decided to bring the men's retirement age down to 60, in line with women's. In the UK they decided to put the women's retirement age up. The reason we had an earlier retirement age was because it was recognised that women carry/carried the burden of homemaking and child-rearing on top of working. But hey ho. That is that. I am what I recently discovered is called "Generation Jones" - a year or two short of Gen X, but definitely not "Boomer" either. I started work in 1979. In the 70s and 80s my basic income tax rate started at 33%, then went down to 30%, and by the time I moved to France in 87, was 27%. The 20% rate didn't come in til 2010. All of you saying the Triple Lock should be smashed fail to take into account that we paid higher rates of income tax for many years. The majority of us most probably started working younger than the majority start now - far fewer of us went to Uni and worked from 16 or 18 (in my case, 17) "Gap year" was something out of Brideshead Revisited. The UK has one of the lowests rate of state pension in the OECD countries. And you want to lower it even further by playing one generation off against another, while you STILL have endless money for bombs and wars in far off lands? Get to fuck.

This news doesn't make sense. @andyburnham vowed to end homelessness & ruled out crude cuts. Many with severe mental health issues survive on: • UC + LCWRA: £10,256.40/yr • PIP Mobility: £1,575.60/yr • Total: £11,841/yr Cutting these vital lifelines will drive up homelessness
EXCL: Ministers are working up sweeping plans for welfare changes including scrapping key disability benefit for under-25s & replacing it with multibillion pound package of support to get into work. Whitehall sources said changes under debate were much bigger than previously thought, as Andy Burnham’s government hopes to persuade more people on benefits back into work. But the move could be fraught with political danger after last year’s dramatic welfare rebellion by Labour MPs. Ministers have spent weeks trying to persuade them the plans are about reform not cuts & feel confident opposition has waned. By @rowenamason @patrickjbutler & me theguardian.com/politics/202…

I am fucking devastated. My daughter is autistic. She has struggled with her mental health for years. She was discharged from the local mental health team. And what support was put in place to help her STAY WELL? None. Absolutely fucking none. Her mental health has deteriorated badly again. Last night I was up into the early hours listening to and seeing my daughter in immense distress. So I called 111 out of hours because I was desperately trying to get help. And what was I told? Ring back in the morning. Why? Because my daughter couldn't speak to them herself. Let that sink in. She couldn't speak because she was in crisis. What the actual fuck are families supposed to do with that? How are people supposed to access mental health services when the very reason they need help means they may not be able to communicate with the service asking them to communicate? This is not support. This is not prevention. This is waiting for someone to fall apart and then wondering why they're in crisis. My daughter deserved better. She deserved someone to actually support her mental health. She deserved continuity. She deserved professionals who understood her autism and her needs. She deserved services working WITH her and WITH her family to keep her well. Instead, once again, we have been left picking up the pieces. And I'm fucking sick of it. My daughter has spent two years battling silent demons. We fought so hard to get her to a better place. And now? We're back at square one. And I am terrified about what comes next. Because when services fail to support my daughter, it isn't just her who suffers. Our whole family suffers. And once again we face the possibility of being dragged through the courts when what my daughter actually needs is proper mental health support. So I'm asking the question I've asked myself over and over again: WHY THE FUCK DOES THE NHS KEEP LETTING PEOPLE LIKE MY DAUGHTER DOWN? Why does support disappear when someone is discharged? Why aren't autistic people with complex mental health needs supported to REMAIN WELL? Why does it feel like services wait until someone is in absolute crisis before they take their mental health seriously? Why do families have to scream, fight, complain and beg for help? My daughter shouldn't have to become desperately unwell before somebody decides she is unwell enough to deserve help. She deserved to be well. She deserved to stay well. She deserved better. And today, I'm fucking heartbroken that once again, the system has failed her.

Kemi, I asked you yesterday. I asked Helen eighteen times. I asked Griffith. I asked Robertson. I asked Philp. I asked Seb four times. I asked the TPA. I asked the DWP. NONE of you answered. WHERE ARE THE JOBS? 702,000 vacancies. 1.75 million unemployed. 70,000 entry-level for the entire country. 81,026 filed as at risk THIS QUARTER. Payrolled employees DOWN 45,000 in two months. "Six months to find work." In a market where: London: 1,964 no-experience jobs for 9 million people. Manchester: 694 for 550,000. Bristol: 400 for 470,000. Newcastle: 315 for 300,000. I checked. On Indeed. On Totaljobs. This week. The actual job boards where the actual people you're talking about actually look. Your Shadow Chancellor is hiring a financial analyst. The person who should have modelled these numbers BEFORE you announced the policy doesn't exist yet. You published first. You're recruiting the person to check the maths second. "We must not borrow from our children." You're not borrowing from children Kemi. You're taking £101/month from adults on £338 and putting them on a surveillance card at £2.92/day after bills. While your Shadow Equalities Minister endorses a policy a High Court judge called "blatantly discriminatory." While your plan to leave the ECHR exists specifically to prevent legal challenges against it. Day two. Same slogan. Same missing answer. WHERE. ARE. THE. JOBS. builduk.club 35+ charters. Helen Whatley MP spends every day bashing disabled people online and calling them scroungers. She has claimed for almost £2,000,000 on expenses since 2015. £300,000 of this are for her own travel and accommodation etc, yet she lives 50 miles from London.

Remember folks, If you're working and claiming Universal Credit to survive. You're not getting a benefit. Your employer and landlord are. Don't believe the bullshit.
🚨 NEW: Research has found one in five working-age adults are now on Universal Credit This includes 1.3 million people in their 20s, 2 million in their 30s and 1.9 million in their 40s according to the TaxPayers’ Alliance

Lidl has started adding PEA PROTEIN to beef mince… and calling it “High Protein Beef Mince.” No, seriously. Apparently beef wasn’t protein enough. This new range landed in Lidl stores across Britain on 18 September. It mixes British meat with plant based pea protein, and Lidl says the products contain at least 20% more protein than their traditional versions. Lidl has committed to increasing plant based protein to 25% of the protein it sells by 2030. And Lidl itself says this new hybrid meat range helps bring its “Planetary Health Diet commitments” onto supermarket shelves. So we’re taking beef, one of the most naturally protein rich foods humans eat, mixing pea protein into it, then putting a massive HIGH PROTEIN label on the front as though we’ve somehow improved meat. That’s quite a marketing trick. If I pick up a packet labelled BEEF MINCE, I want beef mince. Not beef mince quietly helping a supermarket hit its plant protein targets. How long before finding a packet containing just beef becomes the premium option?

£65 for a lightbulb. £11 for a three-pack of the same bulbs from the same supplier. That's PFI. The hospital doesn't change its own lightbulb. The PFI contract says only the approved contractor changes lightbulbs. The contractor charges £65. For a £3.67 bulb. And a two-minute job. Multiply that by every lightbulb, every tap washer, every door handle, every broken tile in every PFI hospital and school in the country. Thousands of £65 lightbulbs. Every year. For 25-30 years. Contractually locked in. The hospital can't use YOU the handyman with the same bulbs in your van at a third of the price. Because the contract says they can't. The PFI company has EXCLUSIVE maintenance rights. No competition. No alternative. Captive client. Same model as the disability markup. Same exploitation. Different building. You've just described the disability cost problem AND the NHS cost problem in one lightbulb. builduk.club direct services charter. In-house maintenance. Council employees. Hospital employees. The lightbulb costs £3.67. The person who changes it earns a proper wage. No contractor margin. No £65 for a two-minute job.

£59 from the RNIB. £14.99 on AliExpress. Same cane. Same product. Reverse image search confirms it. A CHARITY marking up a mobility aid by 300%. For blind people. Who can't easily comparison shop online. Because they're blind. That's not retail. That's exploitation wearing a charity badge. The trust that comes with the RNIB name is being used to justify a markup that no sighted person would accept if they could see the AliExpress listing next to it. And this is the "extra cost of disability" that PIP exists to cover. Not because disability is inherently expensive. Because the SUPPLY CHAIN makes it expensive. Manufacturers. Charities. Catalogues. All marking up products that cost pennies to produce because the buyer has no choice. A £59 cane from a charity. A £85 grab rail from a mobility company. A £800 postural chair. All available at a fraction of the price if you know where to look. Most disabled people don't. Because the system DIRECTS them to the expensive source. The OT recommends the catalogue. The charity sells the branded version. The NHS procures through approved suppliers. Every step adds margin. Every margin adds to the "extra cost of disability." Every extra cost adds to the PIP bill. The PIP bill Helen Whately calls "morally wrong." The markup IS the problem. Not the benefit. builduk.club

Everyone asks "how do we afford PIP?" Nobody asks "why does disability cost so much?" A grab rail: £8 at Screwfix. £85 through a mobility company. Adapted cutlery: £12 to manufacture. £35 in the catalogue. A shower seat: £15 plastic stool. £90 as a "shower aid." A postural chair: £200 to build. £800 with "disability" on the label. Disability costs more because the market CHARGES more. Not because it COSTS more. The word "adapted" on the box adds 300-500% to the price. PIP exists to cover the "extra cost of disability." But the extra cost is ARTIFICIAL. Created by manufacturers who know you NEED the product and price accordingly. Fix the price. Sell aids at cost. Remove the markup. Remove the VAT. Remove the glossy catalogue and the sales rep's commission. The "extra cost of disability" drops by 60-80%. PIP spending falls. Without cutting a single person's support. Helen Whately has posted thirteen times asking how to cut PIP. She has never once asked why disability products cost five times what they should. builduk.club disability charter. Fix the price. Not the person.
