Coaches have to care more about the kid than they do the kid’s level. — Poor advice is given and bad decisions made when level is given priority over well being and fit.

Everyone at Basketball Ireland wish to extend our deepest condolences to the O’Mahoney family on the passing of Mr. Richie O’Mahoney.
He gave his time selflessly through the years to primary school and mini- basketball operations and later to Tullamore BC.

"Being around basketball was where I felt most like myself, where I acted most like who I was, where I not only felt like I belonged, but felt included as a person. I always wax lyrical about basketball - as a game, as a teacher, for its impact on my life from many vantage points, but the inclusiveness of the sport is the essence of it all.”

Teach players to perform at the highest possible level of ability. Don’t let them get away with mediocrity. Lowering your standards because they don’t want to raise theirs isn’t the answer & is detrimental all the way around. Elevate them with high expectations & accountability!

Completely disagree with this one. Find it very hard to even fathom where this opinion would hold agreement. If there’s any rule to be changed, we should be allowing both Americans play at the same time. Strengthen the league by imports, forces Irish players to up their standard🤷🏻♂️ – at Cork, Ireland

High School coaches should call their college contacts (if they have any) to spread the word about talented players in their area, even if they don’t play for their team. #ComeGetSome!
