This is such hogwash.
If soils were depleted of nutrients, yields would be falling. They aren't. I am not sure where this commonly-held idea comes from but my guess is that it's from regenerative ag's pop ecology notion that soils should be able to supply all the nutrients crops need without fertilizer inputs.
No wonder the public thinks badly of ag; they are fed these lies from sources that should be trustworthy but aren't.
Whassup out there WheatTrials.com users? Hope planting is going/has gone well!
While maybe too late, @kstateextension has dropped their MF991 Variety Characteristics pub. All the ratings have been merged/incorporated into our databases.
Go do a variety search now!
Thanks for the shout out! Check out the Page Stats link at the bottom of all the pages to see which varieties are hot right now. August 2026 has been an epic month!

All TX, OK, KS, CO, & SD trial data are live in WheatTrials.com. NE in progress. A very tough year regionwide. Thanks to all that make reliable, unbiased wheat trial data available.
The best hedge against poor variety choices is a multi-location/year data summary.

We have also made some major changes to the other input forms for WheatTrials.com (trial data, head-to-heads). These now include maps showing trial locations resulting from user input.
We would appreciate input on these changes or ideas for additional improvements!
We also want to let everybody know about some other updates we've made.
For variety characteristics we completed integration of the @TXSmallGrains and @CSUCrops variety characteristics tables.
Waiting now for the @KStateAgron @KSUWheat Kansas Wheat Variety Guide 2025 (MF991).

We have been working hard importing 2026 wheat trial data into WheatTrials.com. We have finished the OK @OSU_smallgrains and TX @TXSmallGrains data, and have started the KS @KStateAgron and CO @CSUCrops data.
We will keep on keeping on as harvest moves north to Montana!
