Welcome to Weatherstem, @SCCVikings! The college recently installed a Weatherstem weather station and BLAST siren to support weather monitoring and alerts across its outdoor courses. With real-time local weather data and an on-site alerting system, instructors and students have additional tools to stay aware of changing conditions during outdoor training. We’re proud to support Sampson Community College in creating a more weather-aware learning environment.

Low tide this morning to high tide this afternoon on the St Johns River at Fort Carolina near Jacksonville. Thanks to persistent northeast winds, minor coastal flooding is occurring and will continue for most of this week. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until Thursday. @NWSJacksonville

High surf advisories are in effect along Florida’s entire east coast, and views from several of Weatherstem’s coastal stations show just how rough conditions are today. High surf and hazardous beach conditions are expected to persist well into the workweek as a low-pressure system spins off the East Coast.

While most of today's college football games will have great weather, tonight's match up between two Weatherstem partners, FSU and Miami could deal with thunderstorms. Weatherstem's Practical Lightning Assistant will alert officials to any lightning threats. A strong cold front will bring more than cooler temperatures to the East Coast this weekend. Gusty onshore winds, dangerous surf, rip currents, and coastal flooding are all concerns, with a potential coastal storm to watch next week. Get the latest information: hubs.li/Q04BlRC40

Thanks in part to Hurricane Isaias, drought across Florida is at its lowest level in more than a year, with only 25% of the state in moderate or severe drought. The Panhandle is now completely drought-free, and Weatherstem stations captured the storm’s rainfall totals across the region. Fort Walton Beach High School recorded 7.69 inches of rain.

Isaias wasn't the only tropical system to impact the United States this weekend. Tropical Storm Rachel brought flooding and gusty winds to parts of the Southwest on Sunday, including Las Vegas. Winds at Allegiant Stadium gusted to 47 mph as rain moves through the area. @NWSVegas

An example of what strong winds can do to foliage. Our station at Pensacola Catholic High School recorded an 82 mph wind gust during Hurricane Isaias Friday night, and the difference in the trees before and after the storm is stark! One of the signs at the back of the baseball field is also missing. Pairing before-and-after imagery with minute-by-minute weather data helps show exactly what conditions the site experienced during the storm. @NWSMobile

What does an 87 mph wind gust do to trees? Look at the before and after Isaias from our station in Jay, FL! Most of the leaves have been stripped from the branches. See the full timelapse with data from this station here: hubs.ly/Q04zRHYK0 @NWSMobile @FLSERT #Isaias

Another #Isaias timelapse, this time from Pensacola Beach. The amount of lightning with this storm was impressive and this timelapse captures multiple strikes. Winds gusted to 99 mph right at the end just as the camera caught a big bolt @NWSMobile Link to full day timelapse with data: hubs.li/Q04zRtfg0
