Woah now... Don't threaten me with a good time! 🤩
Both the latest GFS and European Ensembles are suggesting the Polar Vortex is going to be doing exactly what a winter lover would want to see from it in early November! Big stretch towards North America!
Will that pattern lock in??
If we can get these stretches to continue, Winter is going to be very exciting in the Eastern US.

The scenes outside of the Bell Centre after a Habs win on a random Saturday in October
Still waiting for 1st freeze and snows. Usually comes early-Mid November
In 2014 & 2020 the 1st snow came before the 1st freeze

Heads up folks - we have a moose on the loose in Greater Danbury. This one was spotted today in Brewster on Route 6 near 684/84 exchange.
If you recall the last time we had a moose in Greater Danbury was in Fall 2022 - also a male during rutting season.

NOAA's Winter Forecast has a clear bias during El Nino winters...
Ralph (@WeatherNut27) has created a visual comparison of their forecast vs what actually happened.
Here, I have created an approximate visual representation of the average forecast error (actual − favored/expected tendency) during El Niño winters.
Positive values (warmer colors) on this map indicate regions where actual temperatures were warmer than the forecast tendency implied; cooler colors indicate the opposite. Note: This is a qualitative composite for illustration, not a pixel-exact digitization.
Conclusion: NOAA is often way too warm across the Northern US and too cold across the Southern US with their winter forecasts during El Nino years.
NOAA's forecast error last winter was pretty dramatic for the Eastern US and the NW US. These two areas saw the complete opposite of what was forecast.

FIRST SNOW!!! ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Above 5,000 feet on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina!
And just like that, the map looks different. Looks like it was sunny over PA and look at those nasty storms that popped up
That cold front looks like a large swath of snow.
Day time temps in the 40s and 50s behind it and under it. Some severe storms ahead of it. 80s in NC today
NOAA came out with their winter forecast, no surprise with the result; so here's your annual reminder of their forecasts and what actually happened.
This guy ignored the turn around dont drown saying and made it across. Good for them. Impressed the car didn't stall.
