A significant plurality of American voters can be easily convinced to vote against their own interests or desires if a candidate promises to hate and abuse the people they think they are supposed to hate and fear. Today the kitten got big enough to climb onto my dresser - which I found out because he knocked my jewelry box on the floor, and then picked out every piece of good jewelry and carried it back to his bed, leaving the cheap stuff in a pile by the dresser.
