Bennie Bus made it to Norway, although very very slowly.

Yesssss! After 9 months we finally picked up Bennie, our restored 1970 VW T2a. Just in time for our road trip to Norway.

When you ask AI for a simple design.

Bennie Bus is almost here. The photo on the right was 9 months ago. The one on the left is today. Turns out restoring a VW bus takes about as long as having a baby.

Not sure if I can blame AI, but somehow every landing page feels boringly the same nowadays. Not bad, just the same.

One for the road. One for the dirt. Both equally good for the soul.

Building the website for my book and creating the illustrations has probably been the most enjoyable part of the project. The site is built with the Hugo static site generator, partly hand-coded and partly with Codex. The illustrations were drawn in Procreate on my iPad.

They made some good progress on our bus. Our daughters named him Bennie. Hopefully he’ll be ready in time for summer vacation. 🤞

Received some solid feedback on the previous version. Tried to address it in this revised version. • Tighten the kerning • T reads as an F/G and is unbalanced • Make slant/stress angles more consistent • Smooth out wobbly curves • Make stroke weight more consistent
