I’m investing £100m in our creative industries to make the West Midlands the best and easiest place in the UK to make TV and film.
I visited the set of The Cadburys and met local people doing brilliant work behind the scenes.
One lived ten minutes up the road. Another was from Dudley. One told me that, for the first time in eight years, they could finish work on set and sleep in their own bed that night.
That’s what I want to see more of. More opportunities for local people to build careers in an industry they love, right here in the West Midlands.

Tonight, the first full moon of autumn rises. September’s full moon is the Harvest Moon, named because it falls closest to the autumn equinox in the Northern Hemisphere.
For generations, its light helped farmers harvest after sunset.
The potential for the West Midlands is unparalleled, with huge projects & programmes either underway or planned.
Skills to deliver will be vital & this is another step towards the West Midlands achieving its huge potential!

We’re heading into a construction boom across the West Midlands.
New homes. New infrastructure. New jobs.
But we need skilled people to build them.
Coventry is a good example of what this can mean in practice. I recently opened the new Skills Centre at City Centre South, where Hill Group and local partners are helping people gain the skills they need to get into construction and play a part in one of the city’s biggest regeneration projects.
Now we’re going further.
I’ve signed a new partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board to develop a National Skills Academy for Construction here in the West Midlands.
If we’re going to build the West Midlands we want, local people should have the chance to build it.
Fantastic Project 🏫 #Notts
