If the government is serious about moving more people into work, here's a serious thing they can do: sort out the crazy approach to childcare costs. There's a barrier that genuinely prevents parents getting & keeping jobs. Don't mess around with claimant commitments & sanctions.
Our senior policy officer Oliver Crunden spoke to @CommonsWorkPen about universal credit and childcare costs this morning. “We find that the upfront costs create a significant financial barrier for taking on employment or working additional hours.”
