UWRL faculty member @WaterModeler has been studying the similarities between the Great Salt Lake and Lake Urmia in Iran, and what their similarities can teach us about how to better manage them both. usu.edu/today/story/what-usu…

One of my goals during PhD is to engage more with the #water users & stakeholders. Took the first step; ending the #summer with a perfect #fieldtrip to Porcupine reservoir & canal! Thanks @DrSarahNull for joining with your group & @AveekRahman @WaterModeler to help me arrange.

UWRL professor David Rosenberg @WaterModeler was recently published in @DNewsOpinion, writing about three ideas he has considered for how the west can adapt to Colorado River inflow, rather than storage. deseret.com/opinion/2022/8/1…

One of Utah's fastest-growing areas is banning "nonfunctional grass" at any new commercial, institutional and industrial developments, limiting grass at new homes under a new ordinance. Here are the other restrictions included. ksl.com/article/50451606?utm…

Here are some slides I show sometimes with data (from biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…) on skewed journal citation distributions. JIF is a preposterous and inappropriate measure of individual article quality. Don’t get beclowned by the JIF

Excited to see our manuscript in @ESAEcology! This work stemmed from a collaboration with my incredible #USGS mentor @ecology_awesome and the @USUClimateAdapt program led by the amazing @NancyHuntly . Stoked to further our understanding of #drylandsoils on the #ColoradoPlateau 🏜
Now online in @ESAEcology: Multiple resource limitation of dryland soil microbial carbon cycling on the Colorado Plateau doi.org/10.1002/ecy.3671 #OpenData in @USGS' #ScienceBase #SoilScience #Biocrust #NSFFunded @ryantchoi @ecology_awesome @USUClimateAdapt @NSF

Just received the best review of a paper *ever*. It wasn't 100% positive, but the reviewer (a) conducted an independent replication of a simulation I reported, (b) suggested alternative explanation of my findings, (c) supported this via a new simulation, and (d) SHARED ALL CODE.

Showers are something we nerd out about in the Stillwell Research Group. Big #water and #energy activity with lots of opportunity for conservation (through behavior change) and efficiency (through lower flow showerheads).
Did you know... Across the United States, we use more than one trillion gallons of water each year just for showering. The average showers lasts about 8 minutes and uses 16 gallons ofwater! #ShowerBetterMonth

When I'm asked to give advice to students, the #1 piece of advice I give is this: Just because a subject is hard for you (math/science/etc), that doesn't mean you're "not cut out for it." You don't have to be a natural at your chosen subject. It's okay if you have to work hard.
