A special footpath encroachment clearance drive was carried out in the Basavanagudi Division by the Bengaluru West City Corporation as part of the Safe Footpath Campaign. The operation focused on removing unauthorized encroachments obstructing pedestrian movement and restoring footpaths for safe, accessible, and obstruction-free public use.
The initiative aims to create walkable streets, enhance pedestrian safety, and improve the overall urban environment. Citizens and shopkeepers are requested to cooperate with the civic authorities by keeping footpaths free from encroachments and supporting a cleaner, safer Bengaluru.

The Supreme Court has reaffirmed that walking on footpaths is a fundamental right. Yet in Delhi, that right exists only on paper.
This ground report is an indictment of years of civic apathy; footpaths swallowed by encroachments, dug up, blocked by parked vehicles, vendors, debris and poor planning, forcing people onto dangerous roads.
The biggest victims? Children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, patients, and anyone who simply wants to walk safely.
A city that cannot protect its pedestrians cannot call itself world class.

Just a month after this road and footpath were built, they've already been dug up multiple times. Now the area has turned into a dumping ground for construction debris.
This is near Aparna Zenon and the adjoining villa project. The footpath wasn't even usable for a month before it was damaged.
