ALT As the DOT Commissioner working under the leadership of Mayor Eric Adams, we are committed to making NYC the most walkable and pedestrian-friendly city in the nation. I am proud that New York City has been re-designated as a Platinum Level Walk Friendly Community by Walk Friendly Communities, the highest level of designation. NYC owes our status to continued innovation, with new programs, plans, treatments, and policies that prioritize pedestrian mobility. At the same time, we are rapidly deploying low-cost, high-impact, proven measures to improve pedestrian safety and connectivity across a 6,300-mile network of streets, the nation’s largest. This re-designation would have not been possible without our forward-thinking Pedestrian Mobility Plan that prioritizes the mobility and safety of pedestrians while repurposing the use of our streets. I thank all the men and women at the DOT for their tireless work and dedication to improving the safety of our streets. - Commissioner Ydanis
