Tonia has highlighted the importance of single sex wards for everyone’s dignity, privacy and safety.
She has also referred to the treatment of her mother in her last days, to highlight some of the issues that can arise. The abuse she has been subjected to on this is totally unacceptable.
Men. Stay out of women’s wards. And keep your foul opinions to yourselves.
*We are clearly not referring here to good men who totally understand and respect the need for separate sex wards.

This brief article by @bphillipsonmp 👇displays a dire lack of understanding and a lack of care, for the inevitable consequences of this poorly though out legislation.
This will be a stain on everyone who pushes it through. Irresponsible, irredeemable and frankly - idiotic.
“A society which values freedom must protect everyone’s right to live openly and safely as themselves.”

This excellent thread 👇by Dennis Kavanagh @jebadoo2 systematically dismantles the misinformation peddled by the Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson about the dangerous Conversion Practices Bill.
If she is so confident about her comments, then why not invite Dennis or another critic of the Bill to discuss with her?
How about it @bphillipsonMP?
Another Welsh health board casually erasing women 🤦♀️
@AneurinBevanUHB responded: “we consider it to be respectful."
Women don't feel respected when we are addressed as a set of body parts.
It’s offensive. Please call us by our name. Women.

Great to have a Senedd CPG focused on women's rights. Although some members may not use the F word, this is the only proper feminist CPG! The others are either focused on 'equity for all the genders' (egalitarianism maybe?) or keep fudging the legal definition of women and girls.
Well, this is a historic moment.
WRN Wales are delighted to support the work of this vital Cross Party Group at the Senedd, along with @MerchedCymru.
Women’s and Girls’ rights are established in law, and must be reflected in policy and practice across Wales. We’ll be working hard with Senedd members to ensure that.

Cathy Larkman, a director at Women's Rights Network, said:
‘WRN members who work in the NHS tell us that militant activist staff have been doing their best to ignore the law for the last 18 months, so we suspect they will continue to try to override this guidance.
‘It’s vital that the NHS shows strong leadership and robust management to stop this – we will be watching their actions closely.’

Congratulations to @natasghar for chairing this group and to fellow MSs for stepping up.
When the Welsh Government can’t even define a woman, reducing us to “people with periods”, our work is cut out.
A special thank you to @WRNWales and @MerchedCymru for never giving up the fight.
Before entering the Senedd, I promised women and girls across Wales: I will defend your rights.
I meant it then. I mean it now.
🚨 Protecting the rights of women & girls is absolutely paramount
👍 Delighted to be chairing a CPG specifically focusing on this important issue
🤝 Thanks @CristianaEmsley, @MikeHedgesAM, @Art93229Art & Safa Elhassan for joining and to @WRNWales & @MerchedCymru for supporting

The law as it applied to the vast majority of ppl was 100% clear in 2022 *at the very latest*. Self-ID should never have happened & anywhere it happened should have stopped it then. The law for the c.5k trans people *with GRCs* was clarified by the Supreme Court 18 months ago.
WRN Wales were pleased to have been invited to a meeting about women’s rights recently - with shadow Welsh Secretary of State for Wales @mimsdavies, and Baroness Olivia Bloomfield.
Such a productive discussion on sports, policing, equality law, and so much more.

There’s a right old fuss about a poem being rejected from a Senedd ceremony today. We’re not at all surprised, given what we’ve read.
So here’s a far more inspirational one from the inestimable @SonyaDouglas instead.

Men. Men are banned. And about time too. However, this is the long awaited NHS England guidance, based on the actual law.
The law is the same here, so where's the equivalent guidance for the NHS in Wales @WelshGovernment? Don’t women in Wales have the same legal rights?

“The information doesn’t come freely, you have to fight for it.”
That’s what Brooke Rees-Webb told BBC Wales, 10 months after her newborn son Gwilym died on Christmas Eve, aged just 11 days.
She and her husband Wil are still waiting for the health board’s report, a post-mortem and an inquest.
Grieving parents should never have to chase the NHS for the truth about their child’s death.
Wales had the UK’s highest neonatal death rate in 2023. It has since fallen from 1.79 to 1.49 per 1,000, but Sands and Tommy’s say that’s not enough without a national target to drive it down.
Our thoughts are with Brooke, Wil and every family going through this. They deserve better than delay, silence and a postcode lottery of care.

Tomorrow, 15th October, Baby Loss Awareness Week culminates with the #WaveOfLight, a globally recognised event.
At 7 pm local time, families around the world will light a candle and leave it burning for at least an hour, remembering every baby who died too soon.
We’ll be lighting one for Gwilym, and for every baby and family across Wales.
Remembering is the first step. Parents also deserve answers, timely reviews and consistent, compassionate care.

An excellent article 👇 on the issues around surrogacy.
Much of the 'be kind' messaging used to subtly (or not so subtly) pressurise women is also seen around egg harvesting too.
Women's bodies must not be exploited for the utility or convenience of others. We are not 'gestational carriers'. We are women.
