We are devastated to share RPD Hans - an exceptional police dog, and a member of the NFRSA family, has passed over rainbow bridge. Hans served with @WMPDogs and @WMPolice before retiring to his devoted handler in 2024 - his swan song being a starring role @Crufts when he wowed the crowds. RPD Hans had an exceptional career - with highlights including: ☑️ Tracking wanted criminals ☑️ Detaining suspects ☑️ Finding vulnerable missing persons ☑️ Discovering evidence ☑️ Crowd control during unrest ☑️ Engaging with the public at events ☑️ Catching burglars ☑️ Being awarded Chief Constable’s commendations ☑️ Voted by his peers as Dog Handling Team of the Year And many, many more. We knew Hans so well, and our love goes to Mark and his family as they mourn the loss of this magnificent lad - he leaves such a hole in their lives. Sleep well dear Hans - you will never be forgotten. Thank you for keeping us all safe. 💜🐾💜

Day 2 @PoliceDogTrials hosted impeccably by @WMPolice and @WMPDogs Sunshine - hundreds of school children, and more fun than should be legally allowed as we talk, and laugh, and spend time together. More pics to follow - but here are just a few.

The first full day of the @PoliceDogTrials is done. This week is not all about the competition (although it’s a very serious part of it), it’s about dog handlers from across the country joining together, in comradeship - sharing ideas, adventures, concerns, and the odd frustration (‘he ALWAYS does the recall - why today of all days does he decide he doesn’t want to!!’) It’s the chance to meet up with colleagues, to catch up, celebrate our amazing police dogs, and for us to share our work too - and not just ours, but our friends from the @AssociationRPDs (your ears would have been burning @ERPDF & @lrpduk 😁 💜) It’s incredibly special, and @WMPolice and @WMPDogs have been impeccable hosts. Here’s to Day 2 tomorrow, we will post more - but for now, goodnight. Big day ahead..

Super - unstoppable - amazing first half day @PoliceDogTrials Wonderful school children visiting m, catching up with friends from across the country who are here to compete and support. Running out of merchandise already, more coming tomorrow! This is THE place to be this week.

This one is very hard for us as we know this lovely boy, Lady B has even taken a bite from him in the ring at @Crufts… RPD Glen recently retired from @WMPDogs having served for 8 years with @WMPolice, and with great distinction. Just lately, Glen has been experiencing seizures. And this week he had five in a row, deeply distressing for him and his frantic family. For those of you who know, when a dog has a seizure, it uses up the equivalent energy it would take us to run a marathon. It is EXHAUSTING and to have that many, in quick succession, has been unbelievably traumatic for this hero of a German Shepherd. His dad has been worried sick, and sadly it looks as if there is a serious problem within his brain. We are devastated too. But our job is to help, and it has been a privilege to cover the vets fees for his lengthy tests and medication to control these awful episodes. Please hold RPD Glen in your thoughts, he will be kept as comfortable as possible for as long as possible, and we will be there, with your help, every step of the way. This is what we do and we are beyond proud to support our friend RPD Glen and his family through a truly awful time. Lots of love to you, Glen. It’s our turn now to protect you, our protector. 💜 @bbcmtd @BBCNews
