Who runs the world? VOLES
As the world warms, scientists are eager to know whether the world’s tundra will continue to pull carbon from the atmosphere. A crucial part of that equation: three-ounce voles. @brdemuth reports: theatlantic.com/science/arch…

Heeey prairie vole researchers @VoleBase! Our latest, led by @jeannempowell, examines adult aging and shows that social behavior is plastic not only throughout early development, but also well into adulthood.

Prairie voles would never have done this
We've been thinking that the Omicron variant evolved from an immunocompromised individual with accelerated in vivo mutations. A new report @PNASNews raises the potential that it emanated from mice -> humans

Very excited to share the work of Kristen Berendzen and Ruchira Sharma and our collaborators in the @BalesLab and @Shah_Laboratory Strikingly, we find the oxytocin receptor is NOT required for partner preference or parenting behaviors in prairie voles.
