What Professor Utomi is saying and doing along with other elite from the SE is not surprising nor is it unexpected.
Prior to the January 1966 Ibo coup, the political and intellectual elite in the old Eastern Region, led by figures associated with the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) and Premier Michael Okpara, held a deeply critical and antagonistic view of the Northern-led federal government and its regional allies.
Eastern elites viewed Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa less as an independent national leader and more as a front for the dominant Northern People’s Congress (NPC), led by Sir Ahmadu Bello.
Balewa’s administration was accused of using federal power to marginalize the South (you would think they care about the entire south) manipulate national censuses (such as the contentious 1962/1963 disputes), and look the other way during electoral fraud (in other words rigging. Is this sounding familiar?)
After losing out in the bitterly contested 1964 federal elections, the Eastern elites were convinced that the constitutional and parliamentary path had been subverted by Northern-dominated federal authority.
(Is this not similar to 2023 after the lost, and there's nothing they have not said about Yorùbás and the President who is a Yorùbá man?)
Please keep following me.
The Sardauna of Sokoto was seen by Eastern progressives and nationalists as the chief architect of Northern feudal conservatism, regional chauvinism, and a deliberate policy of "northernization" that locked Ibo "professionals" and civil servants out of federal opportunities.
Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola was widely despised by Eastern elites and progressive southern factions after he aligned the Western Region's government (via the NNDP) with the Northern-led federal coalition.
Thier hate for chief Ọbáfẹ́mi Awólọ́wọ̀ is very well documented.
Little wonder then that 60 years ago, the Ibos bared their fangs and brutally murdered scores of Northern and Yorùbá elite while immediately entrenching themselves as the dominant tribe and immediately abolished regional systems so they can have absolute control.
We are back to those dark days again.
He knows what he is saying, they know what they are planning.
I am in the middle of an accidental town hall meeting in Manchester in the UK. I came to a Lunch to which Peter Obi was invited. I found food I looked forward to deferred for questions on the trouble with Nigeria. Many of the questions suggest worry about the boldness of public officials in projecting rigging with results of elections of 2027 considered in the pocket. They were energized to ask for how they could own fighting rigging. The determination to do whatever will prevent election malpractice suggest we may see a civil war if power tries to muscle the will of the people this time.

NAFDAC Uncovers Suspected Counterfeit Alcoholic Drinks Factory in Aba
NAFDAC has uncovered a suspected counterfeit alcoholic drinks production facility at No. 25 Omenazu Street, Aba, Abia State.
Acting on credible intelligence, officials discovered the facility operating in unhygienic conditions. The suspected operator reportedly fled upon the team’s arrival, abandoning a vehicle in which counterfeit packaging materials bearing the names of Sir Edwards Scotch Whisky and Scottish Hills Whisky, empty bottles and a drum containing approximately 200 litres of liquid were found.
Inside the facility, officials found counterfeit packaging materials, bottle caps, sealing machines, empty bottles, cartons, tanks containing various liquid concoctions and dirty sieves reportedly used in the production process. Plastic buckets and 200-litre drums containing ethanol and tree bark immersed in ethanol were also discovered, raising serious concerns about the safety and quality of the products being produced.
The estimated value of the equipment, materials and facility components is over ₦500 million. The Agency urges members of the public to provide credible information on suspected illegal manufacturing activities to the NAFDAC Call Centre on 0800-1-623322 or 0700-1-623322, or email [email protected].

Isn’t it ironic that Micheal Okpara was canvassing for the split of the Yoruba Western region to create a Midwest region
while refusing that a COR region (from the East containing the Efik, Ibibio, Ijaw, Ogoni, Ikwerre) be created
You want to hold unto your minorities but you want to weaken others by splitting their minorities
Micheal Okpara used the allegation of a militant wing within the COR movement to argue against creating the proposed state COR state in 1959.
That was his justification for trapping Efik, Ibibios and Ijaws against their wishes in the East till the collapse for the first republic

APC does not feed me and I am not part of those who support evil because a Yoruba man is the president.
What Umahi is doing to the coastal road is evil. If the people of Ilaje and Ikale don’t fight this evil with all might, they will never be developed till eternity.
This diversion is a crime against humanity and one of the reasons why I might never support anybody from the south east in federal politics.
To those Yorubas doing hallelujah about this project that will change our destiny forever, I pity your future generations. You are doing sycophancy not politics.
Tinubu our fellow Yoruba man must never be forgiven if he sabotages the Itsekiris and Ilajes in his bid for votes from Igbos and Bini people who are the most ungrateful elements towards his administration.
The diversion of the coastal road from the Ilajes and Itsekiris is not politics but pure criminal acts against the very people whose lands produces the oil and gas that funds that project.

Alex Onyia, you showed Nigerians the Brock University hostel, but somehow the camera missed the invoice. 😂
Yes, Brock University is a PUBLIC university. Nobody needs to debunk that.
What needs debunking is the impression that because it is public, Canadian students are simply handed this standard of accommodation cheaply by government.
For the 2026–27 academic year, Brock charges about C$8,920 to C$11,040 for residence alone, depending on the room.
Then comes the compulsory residence meal plan: another C$6,205–C$6,590.
So your beautiful “minimum standard” can cost a student roughly C$15,125–C$17,630 for accommodation + compulsory feeding for September to April — before tuition and other school expenses.
😂 Alex, don't just show us the bed, mattress and shiny hallway.
SHOW US THE BILL TOO.
Brock being public does not mean the residence is some free government hostel. Students pay separately for it, and they pay serious money.
Should Nigerian university hostels improve? Of course. Dramatically.
But if you want Nigeria to copy the Brock standard, complete the argument:
Tell Nigerians who will pay, how much students will pay, how the residences will be financed, and how the facilities will be maintained year after year.
You cannot import the Canadian bedroom and mysteriously leave the Canadian price tag at Toronto Pearson Airport. 🤣
FACT CHECK:
✅ Brock University is public.
✅ The residences are high-standard facilities.
❌ “Public university” does not mean that accommodation comes free or cheaply.
✅ Brock students can pay well over C$15,000 per academic year for residence plus the required meal plan.
Aspiration is good.
But economics did not travel to Canada and disappear inside Alex Onyia's camera lens. 😂

PRESS RELEASE🤫‼️
THINK YORÙBÁ FIRST ORGANIZATION CALLS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF COMPULSORY NYSC WITH VOLUNTARY AND DECENTRALISED NATIONAL SERVICE
The @officialnyscng was established in 1973 in the aftermath of the Civil War, principally to promote national integration and reconciliation. More than five decades later, Nigeria has fundamentally changed. Nigerians already live, work, study, trade, marry and build communities across state and regional boundaries. National integration can no longer be justified as requiring the compulsory relocation of every graduate.
The @ThinkYoruba_1st therefore holds that the NYSC has substantially fulfilled its historic purpose and that its compulsory character should now be reconsidered.
We propose that national service become voluntary, allowing young Nigerians who genuinely wish to serve to contribute in education, healthcare, agriculture, technology, community development and other sectors. Patriotism should be encouraged through opportunity and civic responsibility, not compulsion.
The current system also creates unnecessary barriers for Nigerians educated abroad. Using NYSC participation as a gateway to certain Federal Government opportunities can exclude Nigerians who trained outside the country and discourage the country from benefiting from its diaspora talent. Nigeria should be creating pathways to harvest the skills, knowledge and international experience of Nigerians abroad—not creating additional barriers to their participation in national development.
If a national service system is retained, the TYF proposes that it be decentralised, with service organised around geopolitical zones, states, local communities, indigenous communities where appropriate, or the individual’s established place of residence. This would allow citizens to contribute where they have meaningful connections and where their skills are needed.
The compulsory movement of graduates across the country also raises questions of human-capital and resource allocation. Communities should not continually lose young professionals while receiving others through centrally imposed postings. National development should strengthen local capacity rather than treating communities simply as destinations for externally assigned manpower.
Most importantly, the human cost cannot be ignored. NYSC members have been exposed to insecurity, attacks, killings and serious road accidents while travelling to or serving in unfamiliar locations. No policy of national integration should disregard the lives and safety of the citizens it is intended to serve.
The TYF therefore calls for a comprehensive review of the compulsory elements of NYSC, including their compatibility with constitutional protections of fundamental rights, personal liberty and freedom of movement. The question Nigeria must now ask is whether compulsory geographic deployment remains necessary and proportionate when voluntary alternatives are available.
TYF POLICY POSITION
The TYF calls for:
* The abolition of compulsory NYSC deployment and its replacement with voluntary service.
* The removal of NYSC as an unnecessary barrier to Federal Government employment.
* Equal opportunities for Nigerians educated abroad to contribute to national development.
* Decentralised service based on locality, state, geopolitical zone or established residence.
* Greater investment in local human-capital development.
* An independent review of deaths, attacks and accidents involving corps members.
* A constitutional and human-rights review of compulsory national service.
Nigeria does not need to compel its young people to prove their patriotism. It needs to create a country in which citizens freely choose to contribute to its development.
TYF calls for the transition from compulsory national service to a voluntary, decentralised and citizen-driven system of service.
