Incredibly excited that GENERATION TO GENERATION, a traveling show with @nathanielstern, opens September 4 at the @museumartlight in a gorgeous, sprawling installation that takes over the entire second-floor DE-CODED gallery. The exhibition brings together six poem-projects we’ve created collaboratively since 2021, spanning generative art, sculpture, code, found materials, and experimental publishing: THE WORD AFTER US (@fx_hash_) STILL MOVING (@artblocks_io Curated, @lumestudios_) MOTHER COMPUTER (with MetCovery Foundry in Milwaukee) THE E-WASTE LAND (made with material from the @UWM Surplus Program) FERAL FONT (@FeralFile + @theVERSEverse) ORAL BINARY (@fxhash) The show is accompanied by a gorgeous full-color catalog / user guide / poetry collection / artist book, published by @VetroEditions and co-created with @Lucy2Scribbles and designed by Gwen Knutson, featuring the complete texts of all six poems alongside artwork images and essays by @ReginaHarsanyi, @ClaireSilver, @ivonatau, Lillian-Yvonne Bertram, Nathaniel's dad (!), and more. There is also a wonderful documentary and footage of the making of many of the works on view, and an interactive station with educational components designed especially for younger generations of visitors. :) Running throughout the exhibition is Neural Network Font Type, our custom AI-developed TrueType font, which visitors can freely download, “take home,” and use themselves -- extending the project into new hands, new poems, new ideas... And spoken-word soundscapes throughout are by Kris Bones. GENERATION TO GENERATION originated at Krasl Art Center in Michigan with curator Tami Fauver, and we are thrilled to see it continue evolving from one space to the next.
