#AllOfASudden: BEFORE SUNRISE meets BEACHES. A rewarding retreat, which includes two stellar performances by Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto (both of whom keep the emotional pull beautifully restrained, never dipping into the maudlin, nor melodramatic overtones).

Hell yes!
Praying someone inside tonight’s #AcademyMuseumGala will photograph Taylor Swift with John Carpenter (while he does his devil horns pose). A girl can dream!

#WildHorseNine: John Malkovich delivers all the goods in Martin McDonagh’s humorously acidic period piece. A genuine standout. Watch it for him; everything else is a bonus. For me, not quite on the same level as In Bruges, nor Banshees of Inisherin, but still good.

KEN RUSSELL’S THE DEVILS (restoration on 35mm): Absolute transcendence. Timeless, prescient & ballsy. The parallels to today’s Christofascists are sadly relevant. Nothing could’ve prepared me for that restored footage (good f*cking Lord 😳). The production design is God tier.

Tonight’s screening is a LOOONG time coming: KEN RUSSELL’S THE DEVILS in 35mm at the Aero. Excited to watch how this incredibly prescient was meant to be seen.

A massive thank you to Olivia Wilde and Penélope Cruz for educating the world on perimenopause. I felt absolutely seen and heard in this monologue from #TheInvite.

This man who was almost swallowed by a whale *looks exactly like the kind of guy* who would be swallowed by a whale.
A truly iconic photograph. 🚬🐳
Michael Packard, 62, is perhaps the only person in recorded history who can weigh in with any real authority on the new film "Whalefall," in which Austin Abrams plays a scuba diver trying to do what Packard did in 2021: escape from inside a whale. cnn.it/3UnAcmJ

.@BrianDuffield’s suspenseful survivalist thriller/ harrowing forgiveness journey #Whalefall got me good. This exceptional book-turned-film gave me profound insight into my siblings’ relationship with my recently deceased dad.

#Behemoth!: Look, there's always going to be one Searchlight movie about a man going through a midlife crisis, starring Will Arnett that I dislike. Only this one doesn’t have Bradley Cooper playing a guy named “Balls,” whose introduction is a bellyflop on a milk cartoon.

Paramount Pictures is taking over The Bay Theater in the Pacific Palisades. A damn shame. Netflix ran it perfectly. It had great food & drinks, comfy recliners and pristine projection. Staff was always super friendly.

Brad Bird’s #RayGunn is like Blade Runner meets The Maltese Falcon. A visionary, breathtaking & awe-inducing retro futuristic noir mystery housing exhilarating action, exquisite animation & a sparkling soundtrack. Rockwell & Johansson are perfect, but Tom Waits is stellar.
