I'm pinning this here so I can add to it as I think of more things I love about the UK.
After I mentioned I was heading back to the UK this summer a number of supportive and surprised voices have been in touch. Thank you to everyone that has been in contact, even if it was to abuse me and call me an idiot. 😂

The number of colleagues attending an online session this morning with me, looking at my 5 golden rules for teaching and learning. That’s quite the start to the week!

Having lived it; ask for your ofsted inclusion grade to be written on supersoft paper to give it some use.

The first pupil that tells me they have "irrefutable evidence" that they didn't do it, but they just don't want to tell me yet, is stone cold getting let off. 😂

I don’t generally engage with inflammatory posts on X. It’s the nature of this platform that being shocking is often a deliberate ploy to provoke engagement and feed the poster’s need for attention. However, I’ll make an exception for @tomhfh ’s grotesquely offensive views…

Location sharing (for anything other than directions) is something I will never understand.
The unhinged level of parental interference here would have driven me insane at 9, never mind 19.

I think it says quite a bit about life in a Primary school, but I need to select four of these options @TeacherTapp.

Modern medicine is bonkers (in a good way!) It's only 10am and I'm already post surgery, drinking coffee with a good book and TV, waiting for my sandwich. ❤️❤️❤️

Judging an education system on PISA scores is a folly similar to judging countries based purely on their GDP.

We all know this happens , now there is a framework which actively supports schools to push kids elsewhere so that they get a better Ofsted report. Not only do they get good inclusion grades but they also get much better achievement grades. What a messed up system!
So to be judged ‘exceptional’ at inclusion you can select your intake. Who knew? That gives carte blanche to all ‘schools down the road’ that behave despicably and select by having an ‘uninclusive’ reputation and behaviour compliance

The problem with inspection is... inspection! The horrible delusion we're all supposed to buy that strangers can walk into a school for two days and arrive at objectively meaningful judgements. Bullshit squared however you dice up the numbers.
This is a superb analysis of where we are now with Ofsted inspection grades from @JohnGRoberts “I don’t think this is any more coherent, less confusing or less stressful for people,” one school leader told him.

Cleaning out the attic (that's what teacher holidays are for!) and found my dad's hand written records from Leeds United's 1968-69 season. Every game, every appearance, every goal, every attendance, whether he went to the match and even if he bought a programme. #LUFC @LUFC

The Conservatives' biggest legacy in education was to make England's children some of the unhappiest in the West. It's no wonder so many people feel detached from society - that alienation starts in school.
Labour is repeating the mistakes of the past. They previously tried this approach of more “vocational” courses at GCSE. What happened? The poorest children got funnelled down them, standards dropped and outcomes did not improve.
