I just introduced legislation to ban live-streaming public executions.
As an Army JAG, I oversaw the post-trial legal proceedings following Nidal Hasan’s horrific attack at Fort Hood. I believe he should face the fullest consequences of the law.
But turning executions into public entertainment is what terrorists and authoritarian regimes do. It has no place in America.

It is unbelievable that millions of Americans approve of a president who has great friendships w/the dictators of Russia, China & North Korea but thinks the democratically elected leaders of Canada, France, Great Britain & New York City are enemies of the US.

Exiled on the island of Patmos, John writes down a vision. It has seven churches, seven seals, four horsemen, a beast from the sea, and finally a new heaven and a new earth. Revelation is the last book of the Bible and its strangest. Its imagery is meant to be heard aloud, and for most of history that's how people met it. The complete King James text, narrated by Mike Vendetti.

Paul Bäumer is 19 when his schoolmaster talks his whole class into enlisting. By the time they reach the Western Front, the speeches mean nothing. What's left is mud, shellfire, hunger, and the friends he's trying to keep alive. Remarque's 1929 novel is still the clearest account of what the First World War did to the young men who fought it. Unabridged, narrated by Mike Vendetti.

This was my unit in Vietnam. I was medevaced on Oct 29, 1965. My replacement LT Clinton Anderson, was KIA on 22 February 1966. Today, to say I am bumbed out would be a severe understatement. Earlier, I posted about CPT Steven Thuet from South St Paul, KIA 20 Feb 1968, and then this popped up. Anderson and I graduated in the same class at OCS. Our serial numbers were 13 apart. That claymore that killed Clinton also killed Leo Krumbine, my radio man, and killed SSG Ray, who rode with me to the disembarkation point. I was there when SSG Ray said his last goodbye to his wife and kids.
A Jesuit astrophysicist travels light-years to study the remains of a supernova. What he finds in the ashes shakes his faith in a way science can't fix. Arthur C. It seems like Democratic candidates are the only ones proposing actual solutions, while Republican candidates just want to scare people.
Fellow veterans, I went through basic in 1962 and Infantry OCS after that, bayonet training included. Those of us who trained for close combat know something most civilians never have to think about.
Andreas Latzko knew it too. He served in WWI and wrote Heimkehr in 1917, about a soldier who comes home carrying the face of a man he killed. I translated it and narrated the audiobook, The Homecoming. Coming home is the hardest part of the story, and I suspect many of you will recognize it.

If The Homecoming stayed with you, please leave a rating or a short review on Audible or Amazon. Even one sentence helps other readers and listeners find this forgotten WWI story. I'd especially like to know which moment hit you hardest

Today begins a new chapter for me and the firm as we move into a new building—our building. It’s taken me 53 years to get to this point, and I hope my dad is proud..

Good morning friends. I wonder how long I will stay on this morning and my replies used up? lol
Deep in the African jungle, cut off from the world for fifteen hundred years, a city of Roman soldiers is still standing.
In Tarzan and the Lost Empire (1929), Tarzan sets out to find a young explorer who has gone missing in uncharted mountains. What he finds instead is a lost outpost of the Roman Empire, with legions, senators, and emperors still clinging to power, and an arena where captives fight for their lives.
Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote more than twenty Tarzan novels, and this one shows why readers kept coming back. It puts the jungle lord up against gladiators and empires, mixing pulp adventure with a lost-world mystery.

Can you imagine lying on a gurnee getting ready to die, falling asleep, and then waking up later? What in the absolute fuck?

Anyone who reads any transcript of Trump's recent rally speeches, where he talked about LA and SD being attacked, or bad things he could do, or ominous things he is planning, or even Time's recent interview with him - ANYONE reading ANY of that - would clearly conclude that the biggest story on Earth, THIS day and EVERY day, is that the President of the United States is seriously unwell and allowed to continue in office - unfit, untethered, and unchecked. It's unbelievable.
