Today my second book is published: Everyday Crypto. An Everyday Guide to Cryptocurrency, managing your crypto wealth and protecting yourself and your family.
Crypto has stopped being exotic. A quarter of Americans, and one in twelve British adults, now own some, and most of them bought it on their phone in a few minutes. Nobody told them how to keep it, who really holds it, or what happens to it when they are gone. Everyday Crypto is the plain guide to owning it well.
It answers the questions people ask me most often and rarely get a straight answer to. Is it too late to buy, and how much is a sensible amount? The app says my crypto could be earning, so where does the yield come from? My coins are on an exchange: do I own them, or does it? I bought a hardware wallet, am I safe now? A text from my bank, a call from my son: how do I know it’s real? And the one that started the whole series: what happens to my crypto when I die, and who can my family call?
The book is built from true stories rather than theory. The exchange that failed with the customers’ money inside. The hardware wallet whose faulty dice cost its owners their coins five years later. The text message that opens a months-long con. Each one shows what went wrong, why, and the calm habits that would have stopped it.
Then it changes register. For the holder of real wealth, and for the wealth managers who have spent years forbidden from touching this asset, it sets out custody that survives an audit, the concentrated position, crypto philanthropy, and inheritance that works on the day. The regulators and legislators in Washington and Westminster who are, at last, writing rules that let banks and advisors offer this safely get a chapter of their own, because that is where crypto goes next: into the ordinary bank account.
Five questions run through every chapter: how much, who holds it, in what form, what the tax authority needs, and who inherits it. They are the same questions at fifty dollars a month and at fifty million. Only the zeros change.
It is the second of The Everyday Guides, following Who Holds the Key?, and like that book it assumes nothing beyond the ability to use a phone. You don’t need to become a security expert. But by the time you finish this book, you will know how to protect yourself and your family.
Available now on Amazon (Kindle, paperback and hardcover), Apple Books, Barnes & Noble and at independent bookshops through Bookshop.org. Details and all the store links are at everydaycryptocurrency.com.
If you read it, a review on Amazon or Apple Books helps more than you would think. Thank you to everyone who made it possible; you know who you are, and you are in the Acknowledgements.

1/10 Today @Vault12 has written to @secgov on proposed Regulation Crypto Assets.
We welcome the distinction between tokens and the investment contracts used to sell them. Our letter supports and builds on @digitalchamber’s submission.
Here are our key asks.

Terrible, terrible CEO indifference to the plight of customers which they have repeatedly endangered with the most compromised crypto hardware wallet in history.
Bravo @MagicalTux for highlighting the issue to so many people and educating us on how to defend ourselves - something @ledger should have done but couldn’t, presumably because they were too busy launching a new wallet device #fail
Ledger leadership just hit a new low
today ledger's CEO showed up in the replies of Mark, the guy who helped uncover the implants inside ledgers in the first place. because of his work the scammers only got away with what they could steal at that moment
if he hadn't exposed it the damage could have been WAY bigger, because these devices would have kept spreading while ledger stayed quiet
instead of thanks for his help, mark got an accusation back. this is not one of those cases where attack is the best defense, and it looks plain disgusting, because instead of owning the incident and thanking him, the CEO came at him over the old mt gox story
on top of that ledger still hasn't said a word about making victims whole, and keeps pointing at cryptobilis for everything else
i don't get how anyone keeps using a product from a company this indifferent to security incidents, to the people helping protect its own users, and to the users who lost money because of its mistakes
i honestly have no words. this is shameful and disgusting

Just finished up with a Goldman Wealth Manager - no knowledge of crypto, can’t deal with mixed portfolios - it’s 2026 and apparently crypto assets are still a fraction of the portfolio - but only for a certain subsection.
Either way Banks are woefully unprepared to help you with your digital assets despite regulationsfinalising in the next six months.
The next generation of wealth management is exactly what @Vault12 and @Vault12Guard do.
And to help these fledgeling Private Wealth managers, I’ve written a book to help educate them - coming soon everdaycryptocurrency.com

This is such a vital step to grow the crypto economy - back in the day when Goldman had a client facing crypto team we tried to get them to adopt our crypto inheritance solution@Vault12Guard using the in built rewards system for professional Guardians - the rewards would have been paid with $VGT but there was no mechanism to account for these payments. Same was true within the independent financial community - now there’s a clear risk free way forward, let’s get it passed.
Since the advent of Bitcoin in 2008, the crypto asset market has grown from a niche curiosity into a multi-trillion-dollar asset class to which investors actively seek exposure. Unfortunately, our rules and regulations have not kept pace.
To that end, today’s proposal would provide a clear regulatory framework for the custody of crypto assets, giving investment advisers and funds a compliant pathway where none existed before—and replacing the grey of uncertainty created by custody rules crafted for a bygone era.

Next item for SEC Comment letter from @vault12 that could affect $VGT is cessation of managerial efforts including maintenance to the platform and bug fixes…. A question that I got to ask representatives of the SEC recently. The last thing we want is for a bug fix release to go out and the token revert to a security. However on Friday the SEC issued an FAQ that clarifies their stance on this issues - maintenance and bug fixes do not constitute promises or essential managerial efforts and therefore cannot affect the separation of the investment contract once all promises have been fulfilled. Nice. Will skip that one.

Last week I was in Washington, DC with a parliamentary delegation led by Dr Lisa Cameron, Founder, US-UK Crypto Alliance, former Chair UK Crypto All Party Parliamentary Group APPG and former-MP, @KulveerRanger, UK House of Lords, and @Lord_ofWarwick for three days of meetings across Capitol Hill, the White House and the regulators. Here's what I took away:
The Clarity Act will be back.
The cloture vote failed to advance the bill. But on both sides of the aisle, lawmakers told us they're confident it gets picked back up after the midterms. Senator Tillis's voting maneuver keeps the door open for the bill to be called back for another vote. The other factor was simply time: Congress left DC at the end of last week, presumably to prepare for the midterms, and there was no room left to finish the process.
The people in the room.
We met with senior members who lead or sit on the key financial services committees and subcommittees:
Chairman French Hill, who brings real financial services experience, having built a bank himself
Bryan Steil, Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology and AI
Rep. William Timmons of House Financial Services Committee
Senator @SenLummis’s team and @gillibrandn’s team
President's Council of Economic Advisors at the Whitehouse
Commissioner @HesterPeirce and team at the SEC
The banking lobby's argument is weaker than it sounds.
Banks are working hard to hold on to every last point of margin they earn from customers, which is why we keep hearing FUD about deposit flight and credit unions. At the @CEA47 in the White House walked us through their report issued last week. It uses extensive data to show that the risk stablecoin yield poses to the banking sector has been dramatically overstated.
The regulators aren't waiting.
The SEC and CFTC have stepped up work on market regulation. These rules would have been needed to implement the Clarity Act anyway. Now they're moving ahead with a tighter, more comprehensive framework for market structure. We look forward to the rapid implementation of these regulations.
A final meeting.
We met with SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce and her Crypto Task Force team. Commissioner Peirce will be stepping down soon, and the industry owes her a great deal for what she has led over the last several years. Her team has clear momentum in carrying that work forward
What's next: Vault12 will be submitting a comment letter on the proposed regulations. Stay tuned.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with us.
A great many thanks to Jennifer Summers FCIM and Stefan Muehlbauer for organizing the meetings and shepherding us through the US Capitol

Crypto inheritance has a fundamental key-management problem. We’ve spent a decade teaching people how to hide keys from thieves, but we haven’t taught them how to reveal them to their families. Ownership without a recovery path is just a slow way to lose.
Yes - incomplete and vulnerable - time for a new generation of wallets
Crypto has a $4 trillion problem nobody talks about: inheritance.
If you die holding your own keys, there is no bank, Coinbase support desk or password-reset email that can give your family access.
That’s not a theoretical edge case. It’s a fundamental consequence of self-custody.
So here’s the uncomfortable question: should a crypto wallet be considered incomplete unless it has an inheritance mechanism?

We have some difficult news to share. Unfortunately, one of our shipping providers has experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive order data. This affects new customers in the US, UK, Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, Italy, and Portugal who received an order within the 90 days prior to August 8th, 2026.
The data exposed:
- Full names
- Shipping addresses
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
The incident affects 11,742 customers with full exposure (name, email, phone number, shipping address) and 1,947 customers with partial exposure (name, city, email). The breach is limited due to Trezor’s strict 90-day data storage policy (we were also able to negotiate the same terms with fulfillment partners, who follow the same policy).
All affected customers have been contacted separately by email.
Our systems and devices remain secure, but affected customers could experience an increase in phishing attempts.
NEVER enter your wallet backup on a website or share it with anyone, and only check for updates on official Trezor channels.
We are deeply sorry to the community and those affected.
We are investigating this situation and will post updates on our blog:

One RNG, No Fallbacks: How Vault12 Guard Generates Seed Phrases — and Why the Coldcard Failure Can't Happen Here

My rule of thumb: If your backup strategy involves a single piece of paper, it’s not a strategy—it’s a risk. I always advocate for distributed security that doesn't rely on a single point of failure or a single person’s memory. #CyberSecurity #CryptoTips #Safety

Don’t take photos of your seed phrase
⚠️ALERT: Malware found in the Apple App Store and Google Play was scanning users' photos for crypto wallet seed phrases.
Check Point says SparkKitty hid inside apps disguised as crypto tools and messaging platforms across app stores.
Once users granted photo access, the malware scanned for recovery phrases and uploaded them to attacker-controlled servers.
One infected app on Google Play was downloaded more than 10,000 times before being removed.

A reminder even the best hardware wallets have vulnerabilities - none are uncompromised regardless of their marketing. Make sure you back them up safely and securely
JUST IN: Coldcard, one of the best-known Bitcoin hardware wallets, warns users to move funds following a $38M $BTC theft.
The issue affects seeds created on Coldcard Mk3 firmware from version 4.0.1 onward, as well as some older Mk4, Mk5 and Q firmware.
Separately, researchers tracked a 594.48 BTC ($38M) theft, with no confirmed link to the Coldcard flaw.

Got to participate in @TheDCW_X #RoundtableWednesdays event this week in Mayfair - the discussion was about AI Agents and was at times terrifying as well as being full of possibilities. Reminds me of the line from 2001: A Space Odyssey “…it’s full of stars” - my top notch panel was Boris Bohrer-Bilowitzki, Concordium, Adam Jackson Innovate Finance, Christian Walker Bank Frick and moderated by Aaron Evencio Sanchez, MiCA Crypto Alliance - other uncommonly great speakers included Filip Talac, Sam Mudie and Jacqueline Winstanley FRSA - thank you to James Bowater and team for putting on a superb evening with terrific people - I especially enjoyed hearing from Dr Barry Childe who I hear will be speaking at the next event.
