The more AI can code, the more I believe in Rails. Builders need the conventions, tooling, and ecosystem of a batteries-included framework. Building and evolving that framework takes a community collaborating through open source. Engineers have a crucial role: researching and building new tools and platforms. I believe the Rails community is best positioned to do this. Iโ€™m excited for the future of Rails and its ecosystem!

This advice from Jeff Bezos is still relevant in the AI era. "I almost never get the question: 'What's not going to change in the next 10 years?' [That question is important] because you can build a business strategy around the things that are stable in time." So ask yourselfโ€ฆ

There's speculation that humans won't need to read/understand code in the future. Not sure I agree. Readability/elegance vs performance is a false dichotomy. A stack like Ruby + Falcon + Roda + Sequel + Async + Roundhouse + Spinel may just offer the best of both.

Agents re-send the convo each turn, so a file read costs size ร— remaining turns. I audited 45 days of sessions: 50% of reads pulled whole files, 63% chained multi-turn reads. Now my agents batch partial reads. Measurably cheaper, faster, and more accurate over longer sessions.

It's easy to get AI to produce what it already knows, but it takes skill to get new/novel/better outputs that extend beyond pre-trained priors.

We spend a lot of energy trying to feel better. Almost none trying to decide what hardship is for. That imbalance explains more collapses than people admit. The Question Nobody Wants Before the Hit There is a question most people postpone until they are already in pain. What is this for? Not "how do I make it stop." Not "why me." What is the hardship supposed to produce in me if I do not run from it? Postponing that question feels sophisticated. It feels like staying open-minded. It is actually leaving yourself without a frame when the frame becomes mandatory. People who endure well are not always tougher. Often they simply decided, in advance, that some costs are worth paying for something they care about more than comfort. Family. Craft. Truth. A problem that matters beyond their mood. Without that, endurance becomes white-knuckling. White-knuckling runs out. Build the answer before you need it. Not as a slogan. As a decision you have already made about what you will not trade away when the bill arrives.

Are you 40? If you are, it's time to finnally buy a WinRAR license! Thanks to @buraktuyan for creating this awesome video that no one asked for but that everyone needs! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Here's my 30-second spec ad for WinRAR (that nobody asked for). Okay, perhaps Rourke Heath did. He shared this fun brief with his GenHQ community last week, and I took it on. In this experimental project, I wanted to turn one of the internet's longest-running jokes into a subtle family drama about WinRAR's 40-day trial that somehow lasted almost three decades. Here's how I made it: After writing the script (the old school way), I worked with ChatGPT 5.6 Sol Max to turn it into a 14,000-character prompt for Seedance 2.5 (yes, Dreamina allows prompts that long). I used GPT Image 2 to create the reference image for WinRAR's trial screen, while Seed Audio 1.0 generated the audio reference for the full voiceover and dialogue. After 20+ Seedance 2.5 tests at 480p, with the prompt evolving throughout, I generated the final versions at 720p. I then lightly edited the video and upscaled it to 1080p with Topaz Labs Astra Starlight Precision 2.6. However, the screenshot text didn't survive the upscale (I should have used Astra's scene detection feature and selected a different model for that particular shot), so I recreated it using Seedance 2.0 at 1080p. (I also tried Hailuo H3 and Kling 3.0, but in this particular case, Seedance 2.0 gave me the best overall result in one go.) For the sound, I selected a solo-instrument soundtrack from Epidemic Sound and added extra sound effects to improve the overall sound design. And here's the result. I'm curious to hear what you think. Did this bring back memories, or is this genuinely your first time hearing about WinRAR? Iโ€™d love to know.

Great bizops and software require extremely clear thinking... seeing what others miss, distilling order from chaos, naming concepts well, organizing logically, iterating relentlessly... until simplicity is achieved. It's rare. Complexity bias captures most with its siren call.

Don't give Google your face. Don't give Google your face. Don't give Google your face. Just use a password manager and set up 2FA with hardware keys or passkeys. Don't hand big tech free biometric data and don't make it easy for deepfake scammers to steal your account.
