“Purvadishwara” means the original homeland. Rashtrakutas are described as ‘Lattalura Purvadishwara’ or ‘Latalora Vinirgata’, clearly indicating their origin from Lattalura (modern Latur). From their roots in Latur, Rashtrakutas expanded south and made Manyakheta their capital.
