VRU Nexus Blender plugin live test Today marks the first time I had a chance to test the VRU Nexus Blender plugin externally. There were some hiccups and things to solve but overall it seems functional! Anyone can build entire worlds inside of The VRU nexus in #VRChat provided they have this Blender plugin. We got the plugin working and the first thing we did was test a couple things and place a pool table. lol The plender plugin outputs a text file that can either be baked into the world upload itself or loaded externally. What does this mean? It means we have a resource now where all of the complex stuff around world creation is baseline and the only thing you have to worry about is making a cool space. We have an extensive list of arcade games and props as well as a double video player setup with fully functional options menu for things like epilepsy mode and quality settings. It's a sandbox inside of a sandbox! The system makes extensive use of light volumes and LTCGI. Its quest compatible. Moving forward I will probably never go back to building worlds the old fashioned way as its completely unnecessary with a setup like this. Its not going to stop here, not only is this the foundation of The VRU Nexus, but I plan to provide tools to make world building more user friendly than ever. Worlds built for the VRU Nexus are fully compatible with other platforms such as #NexVR and anything on #BasisVR

You don't need unity to make worlds for #VRChat anymore!

VRU Nexus Progress has been amazing! For those of you not aware, this is a method of world creation that is done entirely in blender using text data to generate the world in real time on demand. This is useful for doing large worlds with many locations with no performance cost. This world currently out performs single uploaded worlds for some reason. In other words, as of right now I have incredible performance in spite of having 11 locations in the scene. Each location has its own double video player setup with LTCGI. The primary lighting method is using an extremely light weight custom shader that fully supports LTCGI and light volumes in addition to vertex lighting. This world has the most extensive arcade support in VRChat right now. The only functional pinball in existence in addition to various arcade kiosks made from scratch by myself and @VivienVoid. We just added a version of spaceship shooter that has gameplay mechanics inspired by Galaga + vampire survivors! By the end of the night I want to have a basic art pass done on some areas with fully functioning private residences. I plan to have events running in the Nexus relatively soon.

A long time ago, I remember how hard it went to cap out lobbies in barely modified unity asset packs. Every very-poor avatar is by definition slop. Many worlds are someone's first project. #VRChat is built on slop. VRChat is slop. I never had a problem with this, never will.
