Dr @aliciagraham22 from @BezosCentre is revolutionising sweeteners! 🍬
By introducing a berry gene into yeast, she’s creating a sugar alternative that’s sweet, slightly sour, & doesn’t lead to weight gain.

Oy, check out the brilliant work led by @mirbachh @p__wichmann and @AriSatanowski from @erblabs on establishing a new-to-nature connection between 3-HP-CoA and lactyl-CoA for CO2 fixation and acetyl-CoA assimilation. Also some in vivo targeted mutagenesis in here.🔥🔥
Lets talk about #acetyl-CoA! As central molecule in C1 metabolism, the efficiency of its assimilation determines yields. Read below about our Lcm as novel activity in the shortest O2 tolerant route to make pyruvate from acetyl-CoA while fixing #CO2!

Great to see this work out, 7 (!) years ago we started trying to make an efficient CRISR genome editing tool for my favorite C1-utilizer C. necator . That was a challenge, but driven by @enricoorsi @dellavallesimo and @copa_bio the puzzled was cracked! SIBR(2.0)-Cas! Check it!
