FYI, "Страна непуганых идиотов" was how the early Soviet satirists Ilf and Petrov characterized the US of almost 100 years ago after traveling through it in 1930's.
I use their characterization to describe modern MAGA America.

“we will pay any price….to assure the success and survival of liberty.” Is this still true? Do we prize liberty or do we prize power and purse? No more clear test than the choice between Ukraine and Russia. Abandon Ukraine and we abandon liberty. Eventually even our own.

Be careful what you need in order to be happy.
Most of us tie our happiness to things like money, praise, a relationship, or a title. These are good things. But none of them is fully in your control. The market drops. People change their minds. Jobs end.
If your happiness depends completely on those things, you are always at risk. A better base is how you act. Are you honest? Are you brave when it counts? Are you fair to people? Do you control yourself when you are angry or tempted? You can do all of that on a good day or a terrible one. No one can take it from you.
I have seen patients who lost almost everything to illness and still felt their life had meaning, because they were proud of how they were handling it. That is real freedom.

At some point, we will have to blame Mearsheimer, Sachs, and their fellow travelers for much more than just peddling wrong explanations and misleading people. These guys have influence in policy circles, their words have policy consequences. They are partly responsible for policies that are based on their explanations.
The U.S. has now said no NATO membership for Ukraine — and the Russians didn’t even bother to thank it.
The U.S. has pursued deescalation — and the Kremlin merely escalated in return.
The U.S. has offered lucrative deals to Moscow — and the Russians have not offered anything at all.
The U.S. denigrated and pressured Zelenskyy multiple times — and the Kremlin just clapped.
The U.S. pulled Putin out of increasing international isolation by rolling out the red carpet for him in Alaska — and the Kremlin just used “the spirit of Alaska” to support its demands for Ukraine to capitulate.
The Russians still demand all of Donbas just to start talking.
And the reason for all these failure is rather simple: the U.S. keeps offering things that should appeal to the Russians under the Mearsheimer/Sachs explanation of the war but don’t.
Because their explanation is fundamentally and irretrievably wrong.
The moment you ditch the Mearshemer/Sachs framework, everything will immediately fall into place and you will understand why all these initiatives never had any chance of success.
Putin wants to subjugate Ukraine.
That’s the starting point. From this, it follows that he does not want it in NATO. It follows that he does not want it to have an army. It follows that he does not want it to have an independent government.
But, you might say, this is consistent with the other framework too. It is. But the imperialist explanation also tells you why Putin is fixated on territories, why he insists on taking Donbas, and why no economic and security concessions work on him. It tells you why all these talks will never work.
Mearsheimer is reduced to blubbering utter gibberish when confronted with that reality. After denying expansionist motives for years, he had to bow to reality and so began to claim — without a shred of evidence — that the territorial demands came only after the invasion. That’s despite the Kremlin officially annexing Donetsk and Luhansk even before the invasion, and Putin ceaselessly talking about subjugation and territory.
These people are immoral hacks who, to our collective dismay, have long had access and influence in Washington (and elsewhere). Their ideas are partly responsible for the failures of our foreign policy, with the consequences we now face.
Their vacuous insistence on peace and blaming the West for Russia’s aggression — along with their incessant clamor for talking to Moscow and normalizing relations — are contributing directly to the prolongation of the war. They embolden the Kremlin to persist and escalate in the expectation that the West would buckle because enough people come to believe these charlatans.
These people have the blood of hundreds of thousands on their hands.

If you want an easy, quick way to dispel the anti-Zionist lie that Israelis are Poles and Germans, use this.
As you can see, Ashkenazi Jews cluster nowhere near Poles or Germans. Instead, they overlap with Iraqi and Iranian Jews, Sephardim, Armenians, and non-Jewish Levantines (especially Druze and Syrians).
This PCA is by far the best one you'll find. Not only is it sample-based (i.e. it fully showcases genetic diversity within each population), it includes all relevant populations.

My take on longevity:
In the grand scheme of things, we're all rapidly approaching death. Tomorrow is never guaranteed.
We should do everything reasonable to delay disease and decline. But never at the expense of enjoying the life we’re trying to extend.

If you're married to someone who takes care of you, and is a good parent to your children, then you've won the game. There isn't anything out there that you're missing. You've already found what you're supposed to find.
So many people ruin their lives with a vague sense of dissatisfaction that is entirely constructed within their own minds. You're not going to find the answer by separating from your spouse, ruining your children's lives, partying, sleeping with strangers, "finding yourself" by taking a plane staring into the dead gas lamp sky of a thousand cities that all look the same in the heat of your misguided misery. I've blown my life enough to know that I'm skillful enough to recreate my own personal hell no matter the circumstances.
Stop trying to find the answer by running away. It's time to stay. Stay. You need to love harder. Explore what you already possess. Possess more only to give and enrich the life you currently have. Take responsibility for something important to you. Start a business. Take care of a relative. Be a better friend. Be a better parent. Create something beautiful. Love some more. Everything else is a dead end.

American greatness neither originated nor can it be recovered in the halls of government. While we venerate such things as the Constitution and the Declaration, neither are the inventions of those who governed but the wise reflections upon the values and hopes of a free people and lessons taught by the ages on the maintenence of a free country.
In as far as it feels like America has fallen from greatness, it can only be returned to greatness at the root and source of that greatness: the people. No politician, no president, no congress can make us united, proud, and free. It is a destiny we can only seize for ourselves.
So if people truly want to make America great again, and I believe people do, we must do so from the ground up, restoring values, ideals, and traditions that compose that greatness in our hearts, in our homes, at our dinner tables, in our communities...and only then will there be a foundation for political renewal and restoration in our halls of government, as a reflection of what we actually believe and cherish as a free society.

Intelligence is actually a liability if you don’t have enough courage to balance it out. You will have ideas about what to do, but you will watch other people do it. You will have smart things to say, but you won’t say them, and you will accumulate anxiety. You will have a good idea of the life you want, but you will never build it. The smarter you are, the more courage you need if you want to live a happy life.

Criticizing the US is not the same thing as hating it. The US is not perfect and deserves lots and lots of criticism. It doesn't deserve hate.
Foreigners who hate the US should not be admitted into our country, the native-borns who hate should move to Pakistan? China? Zimbabwe?

Our true enemies are the ghoulish demagogues who are trying to tell Americans to hate our countrymen.
We have to fight back against the Tucker Carlsons and the Hasan Pikers, the Candace Owenses and the Nick Fuenteses, and all the rest of that grifting bunch of demagogues.

Lots of people criticize Hasan Piker due to his anti-Semitic remarks - and rightly so! But his praise of communist tyrants is even worse. He called Mao Zedong "one of the great leaders of this world." Mao was the biggest mass murderer in the entire history of the world (killing at least 30 million people). Apologists for tyranny and mass murder have no place in any political movement committed to liberal democratic values. And, yes, some right-wing "influencers" are just as bad (e.g. - Tucker Carlson is an apologist for Hitler). That in no way justifies Piker. See links below for documentation on Piker's remarks and Mao's death toll.

The insufferable Hasan Piker, who has campaigned with NYC mayor Mamdani, Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El‑Sayed, and several other Democratic candidates, claims that Jewish Americans who feel any affinity for Israel or support the Jewish state somehow invite violence onto themselves. He presents this as normal and even sensible. Many immediately condemned the remark as incitement and as an ignorant portrayal of Jews as responsible for the violence directed at them at a time when hate crimes are at historic highs. Others rushed to defend him, insisting he was not antisemitic and was merely criticizing “the Zionists,” even though the framing clearly targeted Jewish Americans as an entire group.
What stands out is the double standard applied only to Jews. Do Palestinian Americans or Muslim Americans who support Hamas, a Jihadist and fascist organization, invite violence upon themselves? Do Muslims who advocate for Sharia Law, including interpretations used to justify beheadings, mass rape, and other crimes against humanity, invite violence upon themselves? Do Chinese Americans who do not speak out against Beijing’s treatment of Uyghurs or Tibetans invite violence upon themselves? Do leftists or Iranians who support the Islamic Republic, the Cuban regime, or Maduro’s Venezuela invite violence upon themselves? Do Lebanese Americans in Dearborn, Michigan, who support Hezbollah invite violence upon themselves? Do Yemeni Americans who support the Houthis and their brutal, regressive ideology invite violence upon themselves?
The list can continue, yet one truth is unmistakable. There is a fixation on treating diaspora and American Jews as uniquely deserving of violence or hate crimes because of their perceived or actual views on a foreign policy issue. No other community is subjected to this logic. Never allow anyone to convince you that this has anything to do with the Palestinian people, their cause, or genuine pro‑Palestine advocacy.

Neither the ethics of humanitarianism nor the formal structures of international law can survive infiltration by Islamist extremist ideologies, postcolonial justifications of mass violence, or the sorting of human beings into essentialized moral categories—white, non-white, and otherwise—that predetermine innocence and guilt. Rebuilding a global order of human rights requires a radical critique of the very actors and institutions that today claim its name.
