#NipseyHussle father “Dawit Asghedom was politically active during the struggle for #Eritrean independence. He was one of the demonstrators in the memorable 1975 picture in NYC. He is the man in the far right holding up the sign that reads, "Down With Apartheid and Imperialism.”

Can only imagine the mourning in #Eritrea. When so many people are clueless about our country and it’s struggle for self-determination, #NipseyHussle gave so many back home and in the Diaspora hope that invisibility and silencing can be overpowered by hard work and determination

Sometimes it is the feds. But a lot of times it is us. Toxic masculinity isn’t just a sexy phrase for the academy to toss around. It’s why men, #NipseyHussle, get killed. B/c someone didn’t know how to self-manage themselves after disrespect, embarrassment, rejection or defeat.

Eritrean American Ermias Asghedom, a.k.a. #NipseyHussle, had a revolutionary class and socioeconomic analysis. That’s nearly nonexistent in mainstream rap. As an internationalist and Pan-Africanist with an anti-colonist and anti-imperialist critique, he was ahead of the pack.
