Last year, the @UnityParade
introduced the inaugural Bill Russell Sportsman Award. We wanted to pay homage to the great athlete and even a greater human being who was Bill Russell. The recipient was Mike Bivins. Every year on Mike’s birthday, he has this huge neighborhood basketball tournament. Unfortunately, he had to fly out that morning and couldn’t make it to the parade as planned. Today, at the Michael L. Bivins Mother’s Day Brunch, I was able to present him with the award.
