Bill Gates paid for the rights to seven physics lectures from 1964 so that anyone on Earth could watch them for free, and almost nobody has pressed play. They were given by Richard Feynman. In November 1964 Feynman gave Cornell's Messenger Lectures. He planned six lectures for a general audience, then added a seventh. The series was called The Character of Physical Law. The BBC filmed it. A year later he won the Nobel Prize. The films went around colleges for years, and then disappeared from circulation in the 1980s. Gates had watched them at Harvard. He later said he "fell in love" with them. He has reportedly told people that if he'd seen them earlier, he might have become a physicist instead of starting a software company. In 2009 he paid privately for the rights, from the Feynman estate, the BBC and Cornell. He never said how much. Microsoft Research put them online for free and called it Project Tuva, after the tiny republic in Central Asia that Feynman spent his last years trying to visit and never reached. When the BBC license ran out in 2021, Gates renewed it. Here's what's inside: > The Law of Gravitation > The Relation of Mathematics and Physics > The Great Conservation Principles > Symmetry in Physical Law > The Distinction of Past and Future > Probability and Uncertainty > Seeking New Laws The last one has the line every science teacher quotes. If it disagrees with experiment, it's wrong. Gates said his 10-year-old son could follow them. They're still free today on Caltech's Feynman Lectures website. One of the richest people alive paid to make the best physics teacher of the century free. The only thing left to pay is about seven hours. Which would you watch first: gravity, or why time only moves forward?

This may be a human error, but if your computer system suggests these alternatives it is potentially harmful to Clinically Vulnerable people who rely on your service due to their health. @sainsburys please check this and get back to us.
Ok seriously @sainsburys wth? I ordered Covid tests and they were substituted with lemsip???? And flu tests were substituted with vit D tests??? Are you kidding me???? I ordered from you specifically because I need flu and Covid tests. And they were in stock.

The widespread acceptance of the idea that 'Covid is over' while people are still constantly getting Covid over and over again.
Whatโ€™s the weirdest thing society accepts as normal?

Given COVID is a bigger risk, why arenโ€™t you talking about that @YvetteCooperMP? Why is eligibility for a COVID vaccine more restrictive than flu? Also, why arenโ€™t wearing masks recommended when getting your jabsโ€ฆ.bearing in mind flu and COVID are airborne?
.@YvetteCooperMP explains why it's important to get the free NHS flu vaccination if you're eligible. The vaccine is offered to people at higher risk of becoming seriously ill from flu. Check your eligibility and book online or through the NHS App: nhs.uk/vaccinations/flu-vaccโ€ฆ

Following the Covid Inquiry's damning verdict on @MattHancock, we've launched a petition to remove him from the Privy Council. His actions led to thousands of avoidable deaths. This is a first symbolic step towards accountability. Sign and share: c.org/RJtgMtQF2f

There is an assumption that Clinically Vulnerable lives are expendable. Accepting that a virus cannot be eradicated is NOT the same as accepting preventable deaths. The question isnโ€™t whether we can stop every infection, but whether we take reasonable steps to protect people.

The UK Covid-19 Inquiry published its report into care today. Our loved ones were failed by a Government that abandoned them and left them to die. Action must be taken now to prevent a tragedy like this happening again. Here is our statement:

OMFG! This response from @AbdulElSayed to a completely bigoted question is probably the best thing Iโ€™ve heard all year. Every bigot in America needs to listen to this three times.

This guy utterly dismantles the populist politics of Reform and Restore in 90 seconds. Itโ€™s actually quite beautiful. Take decades of deep-rooted problems in Britain and convince people that a relatively tiny proportion of the population is responsible for all of them. Housing, the NHS, crime. Blame illegal migrants for everything. Suddenly, you donโ€™t need credible solutions to the housing crisis, NHS waiting lists or crime. You just need increasingly extreme policies on immigration. And by the time people realise you never had meaningful answers to the vast majority of Britainโ€™s problems, youโ€™re already in power, handing out tax cuts to your donors.

NEW: Ten years on, Prime Minister @andyburnham tells @campbellclaret & @RoryStewartUK that there was โ€˜clearโ€™ Russian interference in the Brexit vote. FINALLY after years of cover-ups & denials from the highest levels of the UK govt. That in itself deserves an inquiry. 1/

Two questions: 1. Why donโ€™t you show COVID in your first tweet, given thatโ€™s by far the biggest threat right now? 2. When you look at the high numbers of people being hospitalised with COVID, do you feel any pangs of remorse for your highly restrictive COVID vaccine policy โฌ‡๏ธ?
Replying to @_CatintheHat
And now, hereโ€™s a reminder of just how heavily restricted the eligibility criteria for an NHS Covid booster are. When you compare the eligibility criteria for an NHS COVID jab vs a FLU jab, the difference is staggering. Many clinically vulnerable people are no longer eligible.

Privatisation in a nutshell: 1) Steal from us something we own. 2) Sell us back an inferior service 3) Charge us a higher price. The pattern is the same everywhere: royal mail, water, railways, the NHS, public services, council servicesโ€ฆ
Failures of privatisation. Royal Mail to cut up to 2,500 jobs RM doesn't meet letter delivery targets. Regulator keeps lowering them Postage: 1st class, ยฃ1.80, 2nd class 91p. When privatized in 2013: 1st class 60p; 2nd 50p. Poor service, triple price. theguardian.com/business/202โ€ฆ
