🚨 Our History of Mental Health Care archives exhibition is now open!  The exhibition focuses on mental health records held here at Explore York Archives which include the archives of York Corporation and the York Poor Law Union. It's open from 10am-4pm today only.

A minute book open on a page that shows 'Report of the Asylum Visiting Committee'. There is a caption that reads 'Y/COU/5/3 Lunatic Asylum Visiting Committee minutes. Visiting committees were independent bodies who had oversight of the running of asylums and the welfare of the patients. This report of the visiting committee for June 1906 details the transfer of patients from other institutions including the workhouse, which was situated on Huntington Road.'
