I know someone who made over ₦200 million during COVID-19. This was someone I fed and sponsored financially for five years, including his daily lifestyle. He was the only person I gave unrestricted access to my home. He could visit at any time of the day, and he even had a room in my apartment where he could sleep whenever he came around. Whenever I went shopping for clothes on the Island, he would pick out clothes alongside me. We would go clubbing all night, and I would give him plenty of cash to spray. Sometimes, I would spend over ₦200,000 on drinks alone. Then COVID-19 happened, and my guy made about ₦200 million. He bought four cars almost immediately, relocated to the Island, and made new friends. At a time when clubs were closed because of the COVID-19 lockdown, my guy was taking flights to Abuja to party with his new circle of friends. The day our friendship took a bitter turn was when my car broke down, and I asked him to lend me one of his cars so I could attend an outing and secure a business deal with a firm in Ilupeju. His excuse was that his girlfriend was coming to collect one of the cars for an occasion. As for the other two, he said he only drove them occasionally and could not lend them to anyone, not even his father. That was the moment I decided to stop talking to him. To be sincere, it hurt. After everything I had done for him over the years, I never imagined that asking for a simple favour would expose how much our friendship had changed. Some time later, he relocated to the UK. Four years later, I ran into him last week at a club in Ajao Estate. From the beginning of the night until the end, the hype man kept calling my name as I stole the show. Eventually, he approached me to say hello. I snubbed him. Never forget the people who stood by you when you had nothing. Money can buy you new friends and a luxurious lifestyle, but it cannot rewrite your history.

Nothing gives me more satisfaction in this Tinubu regime that seeing El-Rufai incarcerated away by the same man he supported. He boasted about how their Muslim-Muslim ticket has “shut-up” Christians in Nigeria. Guess who’s been shut-up today?🤣🤣🤣
Mallam Nasir el-Rufai is reaping the fruits of his labour. He was the key figure among those who helped bring President Tinubu to power.

Saudi Arabia walks into Burkina Faso with a suitcase full of money. Saudi Arabia We would like to build 200 mosques. Captain Ibrahim Traoré looks at the proposal, looks around the country, then looks back. Two hundred? Brother... we already know where Mecca is. What we are looking for are electricity companies where Burkinabès can work. Saudi Arabia: But this is a generous religious investment, Captain Traoré. Traoré: Excellent. Now make sure the next investment comes with roads, factories, hospitals, irrigation systems, and universities that don't just teach another man's language, but show Burkinabès how to manufacture—and maybe even a power plant. Then, he allegedly hits them with the African development version of: You invest billions in America, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Switzerland, where they already have skyscrapers. But you come to Afrika just to build mosques? How many mosques did you build in America, Canada, Japan, Australia, Switzerland, or the UK?"
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This viral anecdote about Captain Traoré rejecting a Saudi offer to build 200 mosques is fabricated and has been repeatedly debunked by Burkina Faso authorities as recycled fake news since 2023. fasocheck.org/fact-checking/… newsverifierafrica.com/traore-reject-… minute.bf/pretendue-cons…

I’ve been following this Man City saga for the past weeks, I have one question: Is there any remotely plausible way to rope Arsenal into this saga too?😂 Because Arteta was part of that City’s coaching staff, and may have very likely been the Chief Orchestrator of those scams

I see some Nigerians defending China’s exploitation of Nigeria, and I laugh. China will never build Nigeria for us. To the world, you are either an immigrant expected to remain grateful or a Nigerian expected to fix your own country. The moment we understand this, we will stop complaining, stop making excuses and start building a nation that cannot be exploited. No foreign power is coming to save Nigeria. We either build Nigeria or watch others take everything.

Nigeria keeps failing her people. Buhari and now Tinubu keeps slaughtering innocent children and lives.
"We are not into illegal mining... Niger State Civil Defence Corps don't have the right to shoot at us... We are under 18, and we are not allowed to be taken inside a cell... Heat cannot kill a gold miner..." Following the deaths of over 30 miners in government custody, a young witness has called for justice and a full investigation. Just look at the confidence, the eloquence and the clarity of thought from this young boy, yet see how Nigeria has destroyed his life. What a shame. What a tragedy.

7 Dilemmas Learnt from Brentford 3 - 0 Chelsea | by Sayo Aluko 1] Any team with hunger will defeat Chlesea FC. Any team with hunger, not better talent, not better Manager, not better history, just hunger, and they'll defeat Chelsea. Of all the 10 Egyptian plagues inflicting us since Roman, this lack of visible desire and hunger hurts me the most; becoming vacant in gravitas. Like, every team with hunger have been defeating Chelsea for 5 seasons. 2] This above is why as a veteran Chelsea fan, WHO KNOWS, I can't blame these losses on just missing key players. Jesus! I watched Cudicini willing to play after a concussion against Reading! Branislav played with a bloodied toe! Terry constantly played through fractured ribs, broken toes, and slipped discs. Dave ran with a hamstring tear, same for Diego Costa. My goodness! Tactics and talent aside, why have we become and statues this soft and wanting FGS!!! 3] Henderson football wasn't great great, but I'm certain he also saw No.s 1 and 2 above; explains why he was a cheerleader cum town-crier than a footballer on the pitch today. Man kept talking and egging and screaming to teammates who couldn't just get it. 4] New name alert: Pedro Neto ❌ Pedro NOTHING ✅ I don't and WON'T understand why Xabi Alonso starts him at all; let alone leave him on this long. 5] Life is harsh on stupidity. In football particularly, it almost always punishes it immediately. When the game was still 0-0, Chavarria was through and free, a square-play to Welbeck, Cole Palmer, Rogers or Neto would have resulted in a tap-in [goal], but the Vallecano import chose volcanic stupidity and shot into air. Brentford scored seconds later and grew in confidence. Game up. 6] 12 goals conceded in 5 premier league games is inexplicable. It is traumatic for Chelsea fans who watched Chelsea concede only 15 goals in 38 games in '04/05. Bring in John Terry and Carvalho now!!!!! And Xavi, it is Lacroix and Acheampong. Dump Levi and Fofana with the speed with which you dumped Sanchez. 7] You have 3 weeks to think about your life Xabi Alonso. I still trust you. But now, think about your life and focus on Carabao and the FA Cup. Also, congratulate Arteta or Enzo Maresca already during this international break. Forget the Premier League and use this season to restore heart and warriors in Cobham. PS: Please, recommend a romantic movie where the lover boy dies. I need sweet tears to replace this salty one I'm currently shedding. _ Konisewu ©️ sayo aluko

You cannot play 3-4-3 without wingers and wingbacks Pedro neto is not a wing back, Palmer is not a winger. James too is not a midfielder You don't have the right players for this formation ,while not play 4-2-3-1? You will leave this club by force don't worry.

Xabi Alonso should be sacked and this project handed to Cesc Fàbregas. It feels like Alonso is taking Chelsea backwards, especially if you believe his Liverpool ties are influencing things. Bring in Cesc, who knows the club and has a better playing style than Alonso. We can’t keep losing games when we have some of the best attacking players in the Premier League. Losing 2–0 to Brentford is unacceptable.

Alonso has to accept that he doesn’t have the players to execute his favorite 3:4:3 style. Colwill is a good defender but he operates better centrally.

If Alonso wants to go to Liverpool he should tell us and not play a “Maresca” on us. Because this can’t be the Alonso that ran an upset in Bundesliga.

The players are not ready to fight. No bite, no intensity, no passion for the badge. Just bunch of lazy nonchalant players
65
Chelsea is not in the UCL but is still unable to present a compact team to compete. Alonso may have to go to his Liverpool abeg
61
Chelsea lacks intensity. Morgan has been marked out. Palmer keeps holding and keeping the ball for too long. This Chelsea team is not ready to compete

Hundreds of innocent lives like this will still be wasted again and again and again and absolutely nothing will happen. In the next couple hours or days Nigerians will move on. No outrage, no consequences. The NSCDC Chief and officers involved will still keep their jobs.
I’m not sure you guys understand what just happened in Nigeria. Over 30 young boys were arrested in Niger and locked in an overcrowded, unventilated cell with extreme heat by @official_NSCDC. They reportedly banged on the door and were ignored. They were all found dead. Suffocated to dèath. By NSCDC. 💔

In 2020 the Nigerian Federal and State Governments watched their citizens starve in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic while hoarding billions of naira worth of food and other palliatives. That single action showed everything we need to know about how wicked we are as a people.
